Thank you gift for Child Care Provider

My daughter has been cared for by an awesome SAHM since she was 7 weeks old. Sadly she is going to be going back to work this summer. I want to get her a small gift to show our appreciation for doing such a great job taking care of our baby. Ideas?

--- Should note my daughter is 7 1/2 months now, so she has been with her for about 6 months!

Well, my first thought if your baby is old enough, have her 'draw' a picture and color it. But it sounds like she is still a baby. So try taking a special picture of the baby and putting it in a nice frame with a cute caption or something. People who love babies, especially the ones they take care of, usually love things like that!

I like things that remind me of people and situations.

If it were me, I'd love to get a picture of the child and me, framed and perhaps a handprint, drawing from the child, dated and a note from the parent with the heartfelt appreciation for the relationship and experience.

Having cancer taught me that it's the people in our lives that are important, so I make most of my gifts about the people and an opportunity to remember a specific moment in time.

What kinds of gifts do you like to receive? What's your favorite 'gift' to receive from your employer? A cash bonus! or a gift certificate for a mani/pedi or restaurant.

Hi Jill 'm a daycare provider, and have have had children with me as long as 5 years, I have received gift certificates for wal mart, resturants, things like that. Julie

I love a short thank you note. There are many sayings on the internet that would fit this situation. Also a picture of the two together. A gift card is nice, but for me that feeling of being wanted and appreciated is greater.

I would go with a heartfelt note, and a gift certificate somewhere she would appreciate.

Best of luck! (and kudos for the manners!!!)

I just stopped watching a little boy that has been in my care for almost 2 years. His mom gave me a $50 gift card to a spa and a nice thank you note.

a spa gift card sounds like a super idea!

I always like Barnes and Noble gift cards. That way she can decide if she wants a reading book, cook book, kids book, or not a book at all but a CD. I believe she can also use it at the Starbucks in the store, but ask about that first.

One of the sweetest presents I got was a coffee mug with the picture of the boy that I watched on it. His mom put a little plant in it. It is one of my favorites and it is hanging with the other "priceless" mugs in my house :) Much better than a candle or body stuff.

Maybe a mani/pedi gift card? LOVE getting those, too!

I'm not sure what the best gift would be (my kids are now 11 and 14), but...if you would allow me to write a card for you, people always keep those. I will write something "general" and you can have me tweak back and forth. You can include a picture of your daughter on the front (or inside). I think she would love something very personal like that. I love to write and can send you something by Monday evening (if that's okay) or even possibly later this evening. Just send me your email address. Mine is [email protected]. I write cards for my co-workers all the time. Mostly just cause I can never find the right kind of card that says what I want it to say. ;-) I work in a professional office, but everyone knows I love to write. They call me Hallmark Fran! I can do the card (I have card type paper) or I can simply send you the poem and let you do with it whatever you want.

Anyway, I think this would be a great start for whatever you want to get her. Maybe even a gift card with this could be great. Do you know what she likes? If she wears jewelry, maybe a small charm bracelet with the right type of charms (baby bottle, etc.) could be an idea.
