Seeking ideas of what to put under dresses to hide underwear

My four year old is very active. I need some ideas of what to put under her dresses to cover her underwear. When she was younger most dresses came with little coveralls to put over undies and diapers. I sometimes use those, but was wondering if anyone had a better idea. She is not a big fan of stockings and I want her to just be comfortable. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I use to have little shorts that I wore under dresses (I was a little older though...) They were real short and skin-tight (sports wear type shorts) and they didn't bother/restrict me. Maybe you could try that! :)

Shorts!

Also, by the time my daughter was this age, from about 3 years old... I ALWAYS taught my girl about being careful about showing her 'privates/panties' when she sat down, or played, sat down criss-crossed, or what not. I simply explained that a girl has to be careful about this because some grown ups like to look. And its PRIVATE. My girl, understands.

My daughter is now 6 years old, and she likes to wear 'skorts.' They come in all sizes, either from GAP, or Gymboree. So this is a GOOD useful thing. It's a skirt, with an attached 'shorts' underneath and it covers the panties. It's totally comfortable.

Or yes, as I said, just put shorts on her under her dresses. Gymboree has something called "bike shorts' that is great for this purpose. And they are real cute too.

Good luck,
Susan

My Goddaughter used to wear plain gym shorts or other plain cotton shorts. Nothing fancy, but effective.

My DD either wears leggings or the little shorts that come with the Carter's 3-piece sleep sets.

We use leggings or bike shorts for all our dresses regardless. Once she reaches kindergarten is part of the dress code under the jumpers so we might as well get used to it now. (Private School uniforms.)

Hi M A I always put bike shorts on my daughter under her dresses, and to this day she is 19 and still wears bike shorts unders her skirts and dresses. Julie L.

cotton shorts! I don't think it is appropriate to tell her that some adults look. You only feed bad thoughts into a young mind by doing so. Shame on the person who responded that way!

I love how jeans look under dresses on kids. That's what my toddler wears under hers. So trendy and cute- sort of like the tunic look. Another option is not wearing dresses! If she is so active, cute pants might be a better option for her.

Hi, Problem easily solved...I have my 4 year old wear shorts, or leggings depending on the weather. I have also picked up some "bloomers" at thriftstores for her to wear under them.

Hello! I would recommend biker shorts. They are form fitting and can come in many cute colors. I am a first grade teacher and a lot of my girl students wear biker shorts under their uniform skirts and dresses. Hope that helps! I also put leggings on my daughter when it gets too cold to just wear a dress.

My daughter who is in high school still wears "spanky's" under any short skirt. You can buy them at any dance shop or sporting store it is what cheerleaders wear under their uniforms they are basiclly a bike short but not as long so they don't always show unless they are flipping upside down or something like rolling on the grass/swings etc. Good luck!

Try bike shorts or cute little shorts. That's what my three girls wear to hide their undies.

buy some of those strech pants and have her wear them they are kight and comfortable and she can run and play with all the kids and feel just fine.

a georgia girl at heart, i like to have a little modesty with my girl. shorts with elastic waist (like short shorts for gym) are best under skirts. i also do leggings.
always.

leggings or bike style shorts

My daughter is 9 and plays on the vars and wears shorts under all of her dresses.

My girls always wear any kind of shorts or bike shorts.

My daughter went to a school that had a modesty policy so the girls who would wear skirts or dresses had to wear shorts underneath. They are a lighter material than usual shorts, I think they're made of cotton.

Bike shorts. They fit close, so they won't be bulky and uncomfortable. Gymboree sells them. My 3rd grade daughter has been wearing them for years!
