My mother lives in Sun Lakes (just south of Chandler) and is recovering from a stem cell transplant (she has multiple myeloma). My dad is her primary caretaker but we are interested in hiring someone to come to her home to help out a few days/week for a few hours/day. This person does not need to be a nurse. Tasks might include helping her shower, changing the bed sheets, preparing simple meals and just being around so that my dad can leave the house. Word of mouth is always the best resource. Any suggestions?
You might also try a local agency-they will have prescreened people so you now whoever goes into their home will be more likely to be a quality person. Also, is there a local college--you could try contacting the financial aid department to see if there is someone who needs the money for college (maybe a nursing student) who probably would be a quality person. Good Luck!

Marci,
I think there is an agency called Visiting Angels that may be able to help you. Good luck!
