I am a single mom, relocating to Austin with my 2-and-a-half-year-old son. I am desperate to find him a preschool/toddler program.
I will be working downtown and will need an all-day (full-time) preschool program (7ish to 6ish), and obviously something safe and affordable. I haven't found a place to live yet, so I may chose a place to live based on where he goes to school.

It has been many many years since our child attended day care, but she attended Stepping Stone School. They have schools all over Austin. We really liked the philosophy of the school. We liked the way they continued training the teachers and staff, best of all we felt it was a safe and loving enviroment. Even once our child "graduated" we continued to have "class reunions" once our children began elementary school.
The secret to any daycare or in the future, school, your child will attend is that you need to be as involved as possible. Ask the teacher if she needs help with any projects. When they have a special event, try to attend. It is a great way to see what and how the school is doing, but it also allows you to meet the other parents and their children.

Our son went to Country Home Learning Center and loved his teacher ( as did I ).
Their phone number is 512-331-1441 for the North Austin location. I can only speak for the staff at the location he attended.
He is now in kindergarden but everytime we pass his 'old school' he still waves and proudly states that thats his old school. :))))
