registry's

Why bother registering at stores? It seems that many people do not even look at them when getting stuff for a shower. Did anyone get most of the stuff they wanted and was it worth doing the research on stuff that you didnt even get?

Hi Christine,

My experience in recent years is that most people do buy from a baby registry. I think the key is that they need to know that the mom is registered and that they can order from the registry online if that's how they typically shop. I believe that most women in the generation that are currently having babies know about registries, but sometimes if a shower is made by an older relative, they may not know to include the registry card in the invitation. It's also a good idea for whomever is hosting the shower to remind guests when they RSVP where the mom to be is registered - this way, if anyone is unfamiliar with the concept of a registry, they can ask.

I wouldn't dream of buying someone something (other than outfits) that's not on their registry since I want them to have something they need, and not to return my gift to the store for something else, so I guess it surprises me that there are shower guests who will buy the type of items a mom would register for but not from her registry.
