Protecting crib rails from teeth

My daughter is teething and she is chewing on the sides of her crib. I bought a "lifetime" crib in hopes of keeping it around for MANY years, so I would like to keep it in good condition. It already has lots of teeth marks in 2 spots.
What have you found that works to keep babies from chewing on their cribs?
Do those rubbery rail covers work? Do they come off without ruining the wood?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I used the rubber plastic rails you mentioned. I can't remember, at what month, but my little one used to take them off during nap time. They did not come close to ruining the wood when they were put on or taken off. Not sure of a better option.

I think we're both out of luck! :( Our cribs turn into full-sized beds & each crib has a side that's chewed up.

I purchased cribs that are on the fancy side & being a new Mom never thought of this. The rail covers wont's even fit on the cribs.

I guess I'm just glad it's the SIDES that are chewed & not the headboard & footboard of the bed.

hi there my 11 month old daughter did the exact same thing so I went to babiesrus and bought the rubber protector. It was the type that stretch and stick on. It went on easily and she can chew merrily without damaging the wood. As for coming of, I have not tried taking them of yet but they are not ugly so I might just leave them on for the next one.

I bought my crib rail guard from Protective Parents Childproofing. You can purchase on-line or have someone come out for an in-home evaluation in case there are other things you are concerned about as well. Protectiveparentschildproofing.com

Good luck,
