preschool to montessori

Hi,
Have any other parents have had their child in a preschool and then moved them to a montessori school.
Just wondering if you were in that situation, what changes, if any, you noticed in your child.
Any thoughts on your experience with both environments.

Thanks,
Florencia

Generally speaking, my two boys, now 6 and 8 have gone from more traditional private schools to Montessori, and not only do they look forward to school, they come home talking, demonstrating what they have learned, ie., the 6 yr old came home talking to me about centrifugal force, and gravity, demonstrating with real objects....so far i like the change....it may depend on the individual child what works best, but one of the benefits of Montessori seems to be that they are more compassionate with their approach toward correction, and academically they work with the children wherever they are, and it is not necessarily age based...my two boys are gifted, and they are willing to challenge them in areas where they excel, but also understand that in other areas they may not be so strong. For our family, it seems to work. Good luck.

Do you have any recommendations for montessori schools in the gurnee area? What is the youngest age they start with? Thanks!
