We moved here in December and need to send our daughter to preschool. She is going to be 3 this summer. We have her on several waiting lists at church preschools. We need to send her somewhere, she really wants to go to school. So my question is this. Does anyone know anything about Goddard on 146th st. Do they have an actual preschool program or is it more of a daycare? We live in Carmel and need a great school. If anyone has anysuggestions that would be great. I missed the ball for enrollment up here.
Mary,
They are just daycare. They don't have a preschool program without paying the daycare pricing.

Mary, We also are fairly new to Carmel. We moved to Indiana last August. My son has attended the Goddard school on 146 since last fall. He has 'graduated' from the Rhino room (12-18 months) to the Monkey room (18-24 months) and is about to move into the Giraffe room (2 years). He loves it and the caregivers / teachers are great. When he was younger it was much more a daycare type setting, but they did teach him things - like how to use sign language, tidy up, etc. As he has moved along he is learning all kinds of things. I like that they don't have a television. You should call / go by to check it out. The owner's name is Catherine and the director is Kristy. (Sorry I don't have last names handy. If you would like to talk to me about the school, you are welcome to call me. My home number is 566-1757.
I live in the Westfield/Sheridan area and sent my son to Goddard for a little while when he was younger (he will be 4yrs soon). I know their part-time is 3 days/week (8 hrs a day) and full time is 5 days a week. They don't have anything for just a couple days of the week for a few hours.
For preschool I sent him (newphews went too) to Christ United Methodist. 2 & 3 yrs are sent for 2 days a week from 9-11am. When they get to 4yrs they go for 3 days a week. They do school cirriculum activites (fieldtrips to: zoo, orchard and put on a musical program). They learn: shapes, colors, and counting the first year. There are also classroom parties (room mothers put them on). They have a lot to do. They have a bible story once a week, but that is as "religious" as it gets. There ususally isn't a problem getting into the school either. Registration and a $30 supply fee(one time fee) and tuition $92/month is due by July 31st. School starts Aug 24th.
They are located in downtown Westfield, on North Union. (Take Meridian to ST RD 32 go east to next stop light and turn left).
Their number is 867-0582, Barb Sampson is the director.
Sorry if this was more info than you wanted. I just think it's a great preschool.

Oh, they do have to be potty trained (pull ups) mine wasn't totally trained when he went there. Must be able to pull up and down their own pants.
Mary,
I am also new the area, moved here in Oct 05. I am a stay at home mom with a 4yr, 2yr and newborn. Centennial Bible Church preschool in the Centennial neighborhood was recommended to me and I was very skeptical (my mother has been a preschool director for 24 years!). The program was excellent and my son loved the school. I was very impressed with the academics, teachers and field trips. The director of the school was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I was looking for preschool, non daycare facility and I could not have been happier with the school.
Mary,
I work at Community Montessori School, which is located near 96th and Master's Road. Granted, I'm a bit bias, but I love having my children at CMS. I know that there are a few openings still for the fall. If you'd like you can look at the website, www.communitymontessori.info. Give us a call if you are still looking for a preschool (317-577-3641).

Hi. I have three girls - 18 , 11 & 4 so I have been dealing with daycare for a LONG time. My 4 year old goes to Funshine Children's Center on 96th at Shelborne - just East of Michigan. I have never seen a better daycare. The owners, Bob & Sandy, are absolutely awesome; Lisa the director is fabulous too. You can tell they love what they do, and they love the kids. Most of their teachers have been there for a long time - low turnover is a great sign. Jordan at 4 years is so far ahead of where you would expect her to be. It's the greatest. Their number is 317 872 7755 - if you haven't found a school that you love, go check it out.
Hi Mary:
Dont know if you found the preschool yet, but we are in Noblesville and have found a great preschool. It's Talking Time Kids. We tried Goddard out and were far from impressed. The website is http://www.talkingtimekids.com and the phone is 408-6000.
Go to www.preschoolco-op.org. They can help you find a preschool in the area that will fit your family's needs.
