Planting Bulbs

I have some bulbs left over from spring planting and was wondering if there would be a problem with planting them now for next summer's bloom?

Don't they always say "Fall is for planting?" At least they do here in PA!

Depends upon the type of bulbs, but your best bet is to get them in the ground. If you wait until next spring, they definately will not survive.
Good luck.

I don't think that you can not until atleast late October to early November cuz you are in CA time zone.YOu can probally start sometime next month but you should be sure by google that and see.You don't want to waste those precious bulbs.

Jensen was right about checking your zone and times for planting. Do that and then follow those recommendations. You may also want to look into the best way of storing those bulbs until you plant them. This is another important step for the success of your plantings.

I believe most bulbs are best planted in the fall. But do check the planting schedule recommended for your climate zone for each type of bulb.

My gardener suggests October for bulbs - you just reminded me to go shopping for them!!
We live in the San Joaquin Valley - should be fairly similar to Roseville. ;)
You might want to pick up some bulb food before you start planting them. ;)

Thank you so much for your advice on this… .I also got some calla lily bulbs from someone local so I will be putting those in this morning too. I am very excited!
