My son Cayden has a dozen pimples in the " fatty area" above his penis. They are not enflamed, in fact, it looks like he is going thru puberty! Any remedies?
Maybe it's a yeast based diaper rash? My second son got them frequently and our pedi recommended Monistat. Or maybe he has really sensitive skin and it's a rash due to being wet (sometimes this happens no matter how often you change the diaper!). My son gets a "pimple rash" around his mouth from licking it too much. Ointment should work in this case (A&D, Aquaphor, whatever). Or maybe it's diaper rash due to exposure to a new food (I'm assuming due to his age he's still being introduced to new foods)? In any case, if it doesn't clear after a week or two, or if he's in pain or really uncomfortable, take him to your pedi. There are some other things they can prescribe. Good luck!
they usually go away on thier own. no worries!
My 2nd son got this frequently and the Pedi told us it was a yeast infection. We used Lotromin and it would go away in 2-3 days. First time we used it was about about 3 months.
In fact, my 4 year old also gets these on his bottom cheeks and again we use Lotromin. The Pedi said it's common for older boys to get these since they seem to always be sweating.
Hope this works.
I agree that it could be a yeast rash. It's possible that it could be a staph infection as well. Staph can look like a pimple, but it gets really red all around the pimple while the pimple looks like it has a head. Some say staph mimics a burn. I'd keep an eye on it for sure and try the lotrimin first. If that doesn't cure it, it's probably not fungal/yeast related.
It could be a yeast infection. My son had that, too. We got a Rx for nystatin cream from the pediatrician.
hey see your doctor you dont get pimples there most likely a diaper rash of some sort yeast or something god bless
I agree that it is probably yeast. I'd see your doctor to get the best recommendation on remedies.
have you tried a diaper rash ointment? It could be a yeast infection, so you may want to make an appointment with his pediatrician.
My guess is it's heat rash - one of my 11 month olds gets that too......
This sounds like molluscum contageosum. If this is truly what it is, he needs to be seen asap. Is he in your care 100% of the time, or in day care/care taker?
if u r looking for a drug-free way to help ur son u could try 100% pure lavender oil (not a fragrance oil)- found at Whole Foods Stores. This oil is good for healing bruises, cuts, acne, blisters, burns, rashes, etc. Its a miracle oil. Apply this after washing the area throughly. There may b a slight tingle or burn but its normal. Also, you might try changing his briefs to cotton with very little elastics on top, or checking his pants for metals in that area. These things can cause irritation and rashes as well.
I agree. It sounds like a yeast infection to me.
Could be a staph infection. I'd take him to the doctor and have it checked out.
Have you called your doctor? It could also be a bad yeast infection. I think your doctor needs to weigh in on this just incase! Also theres a new Staph Infection that is found on small children in that area. Regardless you want to make sure it dosent get or isnt infected. Good luck and let me know what this was I have 20 month old son.
It could also be foliculitis (sp?)--this is an inflamation of the hair folicles in that area (obviously there's no hair yet, but the folicles are still there!). My DD had this problem, too. I'd take Cayden to the pedi to be sure, but for foliculitis, just spread with neosporin at ever diaper change and it should go away in 2-3 days.
Just like everyone else has said .. :) I think it is yeast or heat rash.. You can almost be sure it is yeast if he has been on any kind of medication lately. I just wanted to suggest the Dr. Smiths Diaper rash cream..it is usually over with the baby stuff by the adult soaps at walmart..This stuff is AMAZING! I used it on my daughter too and I am not sure there is anything this stuff cannot get rid of :) Good luck!
I called my nurse and she suggested an anti-fungual cream to apply 3 times a day. Thanks for all the advice ladies!
