We just recently moved to Chesapeake from Newport News and I know nothing about the pediatricians around this area. My son is coming up on his 14 month point and I know we need a pediatrician soon to continue with his wellness check ups. Plus, we're also a military family and we have TriCare Standard. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Oh, and if anyone could recommend an OB/GYN as well, that would be wonderful.

I don't know if they accept TriCare, but I would highly recommend Renaissance Pediatrics. They are located near Chesapeake Square, on Raintree Road.
Hi Shanna. My name is Arlene, and I'm a military mom. I've Been in for 8 1/2 years and have been in the Chesapeake area for 3. I have a 1 yr old girl named Lila and a 2 yr old boy named Devin. I read about your dilemma. I just wanted you to know that I highly recommend getting Tricare Prime. Especially because of your little one. Tricare Prime Chesapeake has great pediatricians, particularly Dr. Mariano. But there are several more that my children have seen that were great as well. Getting spots isn't a problem, staff there Is friendly and very professional. They've addressed all my concerns right away, and when I wasn't sure about something they were most helpful. Another bonus is that it's very rare when you have to wait mire that 10 minutes for your medications. I don't know how Tricare Standard works but, I do recommend you change it. I cabtbtell you how many times I've taken my children in for one thing or the other, ear infections, colds, rashes, an eye that wouldn't stop tearing(clogged tear duct) you name it. I am not in themilitary so I am not certain that these dr.'s accept TriCare. However, I can provide you telephone numbers so you can call and find out.
My children's pediatrician is Dr. Vernita Peeples with Pediatric Partners of Hampton Roads. The office is off of Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake. I've been taking my children there for two years and have not had any problems. (757)410-3630.
My Ob/GYN is Francine Olds. She is actually in Virginia Beach but she is great. Her bedside manner is very comforting and she is thorough. (757)496-6537

Welcome to the area. When I moved here just over two years ago, I didn't have any friends or family either. This is a nice area and the people are friendly.
Don't know about pediatricians because I'm just now changing my son's because they closed their
Chesapeake shop. But my OBGYN is Dr. Steven B. Powers at Total Care for Women, 436-0167. He is near Chesapeake General Hospital off Battlefield Blvd. and also has a va. beach office. One of the other docs is George Rector and I like him too. Don't know about whether they accept Tricare but you can call and ask. Good luck!
Not sure if they accept Tricare but Tidewater Children's Associates is a great group of Pediatricians. Also Group for Women - specifically Dr. Holly Puritz - is a great OB/GYN. Good Luck!
We're military so I know how hard it is to find a good group of doctors when you have tricare as your insurance. Pediatric specialists are a great group. My kids have been seeing Dr. Robert Fink since they were born and he's great. But if he's not available, Dr. Stolz is wonderful too. Pretty much, they are all a good group of doctors. They have a practice at grassfield in the great bridge area and one right next to the hospital on battlefield (436-1770). Oh and I see Dr. Angela Ferebee w/Greenbrier Obstetrics in Volvo Pkwy (547-9500), she's wonderful and they take tricare standard or prime. Hope that helps!
I can't help you with the ped. since mine is in Suffolk, but my GYN office is in Ches and they are wonderful. Rand Gynecology, 824 Greenbrier Pkwy, 410-7390. Dr Rand is a male and there are also 3 female nurse practitioners. I have seen everyone at some point and have always been pleased w/the care. They take their time and listen to you, and they are one of the best offices I have seen for being on time with appointments. I'm pretty sure they take Tricare. No OB services, though :(
My family is TriCare Prime and we see Dr. Rosario Bermissa. She has a great personality and is great with kids. Since she accepts TriCare Prime, she should accept standard. They have an office in the churchland area of chesapeake and another office close to Frederick Blvd and George Washington hwy in Portsmouth.
This is the address for the chesapeake office. You can call this number and make an appointment for either office. We live in deep creek close to Miltiary hwy and George Washington hwy so I go to the Portsmouth office.
