Several times upon waking up after sleeping at night for 10 hours, my LO does NOT have a wet diaper. She does have wet diapers throughout the day, but sometimes upon waking she does not.
Is this normal? And I should add for a FIVE MONTH OLD! Whoops forgot to mention that. :) Mommy brain at work.
My son also wakes up dry every once in awhile, which is very surprising because usually we have to change him around midnight or he soaks through. As long as she is having enough wet diapers during the day and doesn't seem uncomfortable when she pees (signs of urinary tract infections), I think she is perfectly fine.
I've had this phenomenon happen a few times too. My 18 month old sleeps anywhere between 10 & almost 12 hours. I honestly don't know if it's normal or not. On mornings like this I'll give her her bottle of milk and usually within 5-10 minutes of finishing, she's got a huge pee diaper for me so I'm not too worried. I wonder if it's a subconscious sign of early potty training desire.
Hi there,
you didn't mention how old she was. I'm assuming she is to young for potty training. I know this sounds wierd, but a friend told me that she has a coworker who has a VERY young baby. After she feeds her baby, she waits like 20 minutes and then holds her over the potty. This baby actually goes to the bathroom! (can you imagine?) We are talking about a 4 month old baby......
So I'm wondering, do you think if this happens again, you can put her on the toilet? Would she go for that?
My 28 month old wakes up with dry diapers sometimes, it actually happened this morning and she go me up at 6:15 this morning to tell me she needed to go pee pee on the potty. She took her diaper off herself and plopped on the potty. I've never heard her pee so much!!!! It was really funny. Anyway, I would say, yes, it could be normal for some kids. But, not a common thing.
Good luck in your quest for a new job,and congrats on your wonderful baby girl!
Congrats! This usually means potty training will be MUCH easier, especially the bed wetting!! That is all. Again, don't know how old she is, but if she is old enough take her to the potty after she gets up. If not, don't fret when the time comes she will be a breeze:) My first one was 16 months and potty trained, 2nd was 2...every one is different! The third one still wets the bed and has accidents:)
Hello, I have to wonder how old your little girl is. We have seen that in babies over 18 months, but not earlier. I would say that it shouldn't be a problem as long as she going during the day.
I must also say that we have a precious little grandaughter, Katelyn, who is almost a year and also has Down's Syndrome. She is so precious as I am sure your little girl is. We waited for so long to have a grandaughter and after 4 grandsons (whom we love the same amount), we were blessed with Katelyn and now another grandaughter as well. We are constantly amazed at what Katelyn is capable of. She is a very bright little girl.
Good luck with your precious little girl.
Kathie K.
Did everything turn out ok? I have a 6 1/2 month old and I am a little freaked out at the moment. Her diaper this morning is dry! It kind scares me a little due to my LO only having 1 kidney. She has been fine all yesterday with wet diapers. I'm waiting to see what happens over the next hour or so before I call the doctor.
