We are moving to Ellicott City/Columbia area and are looking for good Montessori/Nursery Schools for our daughter. She is currently in a Montessori and is 17 months old. Is there one that any of you Moms recommend or don't recommend? We are willing to wait until she is 18 months old to start if that is what the program requires.
Any nanny agencies you recommend?
Children's Manor Montessori on Waterloo Rd is recommended among many parents. Personally my son goes to a home based daycare called Elizabeth's Place on Debbie Court. He loves it there. I don't know if she has openings or not, but it is a great place!!

I know about the Montessori schools in the area having taught here for many years. Love of Learning is the biggest, has very good teachers but admin is hard to deal with and it is the most expensive. Children's Manor has left some parents disgusted and others happy. It's not "real" Montessori, if that's what you're looking for. Julia Brown MOnt. schools have been around for a long time but they are silent classrooms which I find hard for most kids to be in. Columbia Mont. and Bryant Woods Mont. both offer good programs in small communities. A new one that opened is Nurturing Nest Mont. for infants-toddlers-preschool. It's a new school but the teachers are very good. Defintiely go into every school and make your own opinions. Email me privately if you want more info. Good luck!

The Barrie School in Silver Spring, MD appears excellent all around. Yet, they do not accept children until age 2.
