I've been working on changing our home office into a "big boy" bedroom for the 2.5 yo so I can move our 4 mo old out of the master bedroom and into the nursery. He is excited about having a big boy bed and a new room but I want it to be AWESOME! I have a "Cars" (Disney/Pixar) poster, border and throw pillow which look very cute and some sports (Red Sox and Pats) memorabilia. I have a desk and book shelves with all his fav books and coloring books. I'm looking for any other ideas you might have but I have two specific questions.
First, he has one of those Fisher Price Aquariums (http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=detail&pcat=buocean&pid=41856) that he loves. After we say "lights out" he loves to listen to the music and watch the lights and the little fishies sway. Also, the first thing he does in the AM is turn on his aquarium. Any idea what kind of music toy could replace this in the big boy room? It really seems like a baby toy and it is mounted on the crib so I would have no where to put it anyway. I have a small night stand for his reading lamp next to the bed. ????
Second, my husband and I are disagreeing over whether or not his toys should be in his room. We already have a very large playroom in the basement as well as keep some toys in the family room upstairs. For now, I would like to stick to books/coloring books only. I'm concerned that if there are toys he'll just climb out of bed and play, especially at nap time. We allow books in his bed but tell him when it's time for lights out. What do you think?
Thanks,
Kris
