Need help with a tough decision to make

Hi Ladies,

Wondering if I could get your opinions and thoughts about a decision I need to make. I'm at a point right now where I could stay on EDD and take my son out of daycare until Jan, when the job market improves, or keep him in daycare and keep looking for a job. I've fantasized about being a stay at home mom for so long that I feel this would be a great opportunity to do it and the thought of spending more time with my son makes me excited. He's 13 months old and a lot of fun to be with. He cries a bit when I leave him at daycare (pulls on my heart strings) but it is a great daycare and he's got a great schedule going. I'm worried I might not be able to get him back in in Jan. Plus, I'm worried that this work gap in my resume might have an effect on my career. I've been off and on EDD since Jan and can only seem to find unstable, contract, part time work. What would you do, take full advantage of EDD and spend more time with your baby or keep looking for a job in a jobless market?

Is there a way to keep him in that day care part time? That way you have someone to watch him when you do get interviews and he still has the routine and relationship with other kids, but you get to see him more?
That is my thought,
Catherine

Hi Tammy,

Have you considered starting a day care business in your home? EDD may be able to send you to classes to become certified.

There may be other home business opportunities or classes that are free through EDD. Be careful with ads or websites that say "WORK FROM HOME" earn a huge salary and then want money from you to start....there are alot of scam artists out there.

What does your husband think? It's really between you and him.

Blessings......

Do what your heart tells you to do. There's always a way to find a job, and I certainly wouldn't worry about a few months' absence from the job market.
