I recently found a small pea sized lump in my groin area. I have been trying to figure out what it is or what has caused it. I have no health insurance so going to a doctor is not a possibility right now. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice, etc. Thank you.
I so hate to sound like a broken record but it could be a cyst, something else, or it could be a staph infection that could have been caused by something as simple as a pubic hair being yanked out. If it is warm to the touch and feels like a huge zit under the skin, be careful. If it doesn't go away, gets worse and ruptures I would go to an ER immediately because you need antibiotics and proper treatment by an infectious disease specialist.
Before staph ruptures it is hard. I wound up with an infection that was around the area where your panty line would be in the front, it literally felt like someone had sliced open my skin and slipped a hot link in there.
Do not try to puncture it. If it gets bigger or as I said ruptures on its own, go to the hospital or some other type of neighborhood care clinic that will accept patients without insurance.
We have lots of lymph nodes in our groin area, so it very well may simply be a slightly swollen lymph node. You can try putting warm compresses on it.
This probably sounds really gross but if you shave often down there, it could be an ingrown hair. I have had that exact same thing happen a few times. I was worried about it so I took a handheld mirror and looked. It was just an ingrown hair. A pair of tweezers was all it took to fix it.
