I am bringing a meal over to my friend's house on Friday, who just had her second baby. I'm at a loss of what to bring! Her older daughter is somewhat picky, and other than that I don't know a ton about their food likes/dislikes. I was thinking about something basic, like homemeade mac n cheese (but I've actually never made it!). I'm bringing it over in the morning, and so it should be something that could sit in the fridge all day and then just be popped in the oven at dinner time.
Do you have any great ideas/recipes for me? Thanks so much!
Baked zeti. Cook the pasta make a sauce and cook some mild italian sausage in the casing and slice up add some veggies mix everything together top with shredded mozzarella cheese and its good to go. You can even double the batch and make your dinner as well. For 2 meals I suggest 2lbs of zeti and 8-10 italian sausages also depends on the size of pan your using
Homemade mac and cheese is delicious! I add chicken and broccoli to it to make it a balanced meal. Extra bonus points if you give it to her in a foil pan that she can just toss in the trash when she’s done. Oh, and some fresh baked cookies are always a welcome sight!
Homemade Mac & cheese is easy!
Butter a casserole dish.
Cook 1 lb. elbow Mac
Grate1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, yellow or white.
(You can mix on some pepper jack or mozzarella, etc.)
Layer in casserole starting with pasta.
Bake at 350 for approximately 40 min or till melty.
I crumble a stack of Ritz & brown in butter & top casserole for the last 15 minutes of baking.
Add a salad, some steamed broccoli.
lasagna, they are boil-less noodles now that are great!
What about a Rotisserie chicken from the super market w/ mash and gravy and a veggie side?
Mac n cheese sounds good too.
I also loved getting a deli platter w/ breads and side salads from my friends!
When my oldest son was born by C-section my friends brought dinner for about a week or so, what a wonderful surprise and help that was!! I think my favorite meal was the Boston Market meal we got, you wouldn’t have to go to a restaurant to get it you could get a rotisserie chicken at the market and take some sides. Corn bread goes great with this meal.
