I do have a child that has lots of allergy issues. He receives immunotherapy for them (shots). Before we started with the shots, and even during the early stages of the therapy, when things were bad, he would use a saline rinse… but never a “nose spray”. It is my understanding that they can actually cause problems with overuse, like people who take aspirin all the time can get rebound headaches when they stop taking aspirin.
I used one of the sprays for a day or two one time, upon advice by my doctor when I had a sinus condition/sinus headache. I do not have chronic issues, though, so this was strictly to treat a particular event. Not regular ongoing treatment for chronic allergies.
I have used it since I was pregnant with my first daughter who is now 10. I had always taken the prescription steroidal nasal sprays. When I was pregnant they decided that the ones out there were not 100% safe during pregnancy so they switched me to Nasalcrom. Once I delivered I stayed on it along with the prescription steroid spray.
By the time I was pregnant with my second they decided that rhinocort (I think that is the one) was okay while pregnant. So I took Rhinocort and Nasalcrom.
So today I still take a steroidal nasal spray and Nasalcrom along with my other allergy regimen. I can’t attest to it being a cure for cat, dog, or seasonal allergies. It along with everything else my allergist has me do does keep my allergies in check so I can’t complain.
I don’t know if that will help you make your decision or not, but you may want to talk to an allergist and find a regimen that works for you.
Yes! I am a new fan of NasalCrom, as of about two weeks ago. I’ve had horrendous allergies this year. All of my good stand-bys of Zyrtec, Allegra or Claritin had done nothing to alleviate my symptoms. My face felt like a pumpkin, it was so swollen and congested. Sneezing, watery eyes, miserable.
I was ready to call the doctor but decided to look online and see if I’d missed any other good option. NasalCrom came up with fabulous reviews. You never know if reviews are legit but I figured I’d give it a shot. Within one day of using it, I was sleeping through the night and completely lost all of the pain in my face! I swear by it now. It’s the bomb!
