I would like a mural (a silhoutte of a tree) in my daughter's room and I am not brave enough to do it freehand myself.
Hello! I am an interior designer and work with a great muralist. Please email me at [email protected] if you would like more information.
Thanks, Kymberly Cooper
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
Google "wall projectors" or "tracing projectors for walls". You can find one for under $30 or check at Michael's or even Hobby Lobby with one of their 40% coupons. Then, find a silhouette picture of a tree, place it under the lens and shine it on the wall, outline and paint. If it were a big mural that you wanted, or if you even want to hire someone to do a mural, go for it. However, even a novice can paint a silhouette. I've attempted clouds, bricks and lots of faux finished walls. (I'll be striping next week.) The WORST thing that happens is that you have to paint over (been there-done that!) The BEST thing that happens is your daughter thinks you can do EVERYTHING and your family brags about you for a while. Get this project down and you'll be drawing on ceilings, next! The nice part about a tree is there are quite a few pretty straight areas and you can tape them if you are feeling shaky - branches can remain shaky and not even.
This sounds like such a cool project! I really hope that you have the confidence to do it. If you don't, regardless, the room is going to look cool because you already have those creative juices flowing!
Good luck.
