My daughter will be turning 7. I'm looking for ideas of NON-ANIMATED movies I could show at her slumber party. What would be appropriate for girls of this age? She is pretty sensitive to any villains or dark undertones in movies. So something light and fun with nothing scary in it. Thanks for your suggestions!!
Let me add that she is not into princesses, so no princess movies.
Non-animated, that's tough. We are just such fans of Mulan, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Pocahantas, and Aladdin but you have just ruled all of those out. I don't think I know of any non-animated movies for sensitive 7 year old girls and I'm a movie buff. I'm not saying they don't exist but I am just drawing a complete blank. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I just thought..any Shirley Temple movie. They will love the singing and dancing and fun of any of those old movies. She shouldn't be troubled at all I hope.
My daughter is 6 (turns 7 in March) and just recently discovered Nanny McPhee. She loved it and has watched it over and over again. You could rent that one or take the girls to the theater to see the sequel that I believe is currently out.
My daughter liked Enchanted and there's also the non-animated version of Charlotte's Web that was out a few years ago.
Well, Boondock Saints is a cult classic! It was shown to me when I was just a wee lass. And you could always finish the night up with the Die Hard Trilogy (the 4th one wasn't that good) and maybe the grand finale could be Desperado. All classics.
mary poppins, that darn cat, swiss family robinson, any of the old classics! There is also the Hillary duff cinderella movie, the parent trap (old or new) High school musical... maybe go to a rental store and browse the family section.
my granddaughter loves The parent trap. the original one with Haley Mills. or That darn cat again the original with Haley mills not the remake. both of them are wonderful movies.
Totoro (animated)
Ponyo (animated)
Nim's Island (actors, not animated)
CJ 7 (actors, not animated)
Nanny McPhee is good too.
You can read the reviews of all these movies on Amazon.
My girl is 7. I had 2 sleepovers at our house for her this past summer.
They LOVED these movies. Me too.
It is good for this age.
And is NOT "princess" themed at all and teaches them life values.
I agree with Enchanted...great movie for older ones. It really is not a princess movie. It makes fun of the Disney Princess movies..pretty funny. My girls also love Bedtime Stories. The Alice in Wonderland movie with Johnny Depp is also really good but has a scary part at the end. Not sure if they are in to Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus or not but she has a couple of movies out and so do the Jonas Brothers. Oh and Princess Diaries...also not a princess movie, so to speak, more of a teen/ tween type movie but my girls also love it. Tells a great story about friendships and never forgetting who your true friends are.
Annie, the Home Alone movies, Savanna Smiles, Parent Trap, 101 Dalmations, Hotel for Dogs ( never seen it but my son says they would like it ), Betoveen, The game plan, Mary Poppins, Honey I shrunk the kids, Cats and Dogs, Spy Kids, matilda, stewart little
My daughters just watched "diary of a wimpy kid" and thought it was funny. I only saw the beginning, but it looked pretty cute. "Charlottes web" is a good one too.
