Hello, I'm a full time working mom who is employed outside the home. I'm facing a 10% cut in my pay as well as paying more for health insurance. So, I have been looking for a way to earn extra money to supplement what I'm already bring home.
I would like any advice from anyone who has an on line business such as selling clothing products. etc.
I had an idea to buy clothing wholesale online and sell them at a profit. Has anyone tried this and how did it work out? I know that I would probably have to invest money to get the items. Is this worth my time and effort?
Thanks
One thing to keep in mind is that the economy currently is not in the best standards - so not many people are purchasing anything unless they need to.
Another thing - many organizations do not allow you to advertise their name - such as Pampered Chef (meaning you can't say "For Pampered Chef items, contact _______".), which limits you.
You are investing more a large upfront sum of money to get started as many offer kits for parties, etc., etc... If you are taking a pay cut - is the money invested in this worth it when not many people are interested if you cannot give a good deal to them? Then, you have a product kit on hand, that may even be somewhat incomplete, that you will not be able to do much with.
I have investigated in Party Lite, Pampered Chef, The Body Shop (at home) and a few others. To me, it seems not only a waste of time, but hard earned money when no one is truly interested or can afford right now.
A 10% cut is not as bad as it could be; and depending on how much the insurance rate will go up over the pay periods - I think you could balance it by using coupons and smart shopping. There are many ways to do things and still save a few dollars doing them. That may be the better route (and you still have time for your kids as you are not trying to promote yourself for the other stuff.)
I agree with the other poster. people dont have money today for extras like pampered chef...and tupperware.. those items are fun but they are really expensive.. for example.. tastefully simple sells a soup mix for $7... it is good but not that much better than chunky soup for $1.50... it is fun to go to the parties though..
I bet you would do better by cutting expenses.. everyone has things that they can cut out of the budget.. eating out, extra items at the grocery store...
we have done well by selling used itmes on craigslist and ebay..
