marker stain!!!

I have green marker on my carpet and I have tried oxywoolite carpet cleaner and it did not phase it HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rubbing alcohol works on some inks. Hair spray also works on many inks.

Hi Rachel,

Try Blue Magic. You can get it at Walmart in the car care section. My daughter had bought it for the stains on the seat of her car and I've used it on my carpet, it works really really good, some stains you wouldn't know were even there.

I used Power Dawn Dissolver (in a blue spray bottle)on a mystery carpet stain....worked like a charm.

If soaking it with hairspray doesnt lift it- wash it good and let it dry. Then as a last resort try fingernail polish remover. The kind with acetone. Try some with a qtip on a tiny spot to see what it does. I guess see what looks worse- the green marker- or the carpet with its dye removed. I guess you also could go into a carpet store and ask OR into a vacuum sweeper store and ask. We have one here that has all kind of cleaning supplies for floors.

This product works wonders. I tried the marker test on a remenant piece of carpet and it worked. It can be bought in most stores.

Tuff Stuff - it's a car upholstery & carpet cleaner, available in automotive areas of Atwood's (& possibly Walmart now). Works great on home carpet stains - even ones that have been there for a really long time.

A good spot remover is Blue Magic Carpet Stain and Spot Lifter. I buy it at Wal-Mart. I have found it in the automotive department and the regular cleaning aisle. It works on most everything. I noticed that someone else recommended it, too. Green is a hard color to remove. Hope one of these suggestions works!

Hi Rachel,

The wellness company I shop with has a product called Sol-u-mel that even removes hair dye! It contains no harmful chemicals. If you'd like to know more, please message me. you have to be a member to shop there, but I can refer you.

I agree with trying the hairspray. Spray the stained area with hairspray then blott to remove the stain. Once it is gone, use a solution of have vinegar and half water to remove the sticky spray from the hairsparay. Good Luck.

you have to get some carpet stain remover to get the marker stain out of you carpet.

I agree with the hairspray, even works with ink on microfiber couch. I also know the sol-u-mel is amazing stuff as well as the vehicle upholstery stuff. So just seconding a couple of those options. :)

Also, I have noticed that the oxy/woolite pet stain stuff works better than most of the other oxy stuff. Don't know why, but I use it for everything on my carpet.

What usally works for me is either a baby wipe or spot shot carpet cleaner. What I have also tried on spots on clothes is Dawn dish washing liquid and Ivory soap on whites. Dawn worked well and with the Ivory soap, you put the soap in a towel and moisten it and scrub it on the spot.

I hope these work for you, as they have for me. Goodluck!!

My "go-to" product for stain removal is the product sold in the auto. dept. of stores like Walmart that is a citrus hand cleaner for grease. We call it "Goop." I recently got out a heavy amount of red spaghetti sauce from a white karate uniform!! Rub the area really good, rinse and do over if necessary. Two or three times usually does the job. I have saved many things with this product! Good luck!

Resolve took tomatoe sauce out of my carpet.

We use a product called Folex on our carpets... it's like a miracle on stains - spray it on, work it in with your fingers and then blot it out. You can see the stain disappearing as you are working! HTH! -Heather

Dawn dish soap, water, rag or paper towels, and an iron.

Mix some Dawn dish soap with water & pour over the area. Then use either white rags or paper towels (I usually use paper towels), keep the rag/towel damp, lay it over the stain, and continuously iron over the spot. When the rag/towel starts getting dry, wet it again. When it's got some of the ink on it, get a clean one.

I've gotten Sharpie out of carpet with this method. I've had my adventures with marker stains in the past (mostly Sharpies!!) and this was the best way. I've got a collection of carpet cleaners that did nothing!

Dawn Dish Detergent took red lipstick out of mine, I'm thinking lipstick and marker probably worst of worst category. I poured on the stain, took a wet sponge and scubbed, then cleaned w/carpet cleaner. (white carpet)

I bought this stuff at Wal-Mart that is called Kids and Pets stain and odor remover it is in a yellow bottle and it works on everything. I was able to get sharpie out of my microfiber couch with it.

Sol-u-mel will remove it. I became a melaleuca customer last may and I have removed blood, sharpe, ink pen, nail polish, repetedly from my favorite white pants repetedly. I also got the sharpe off the leather seats in my car with the sol-u-mel. I don't worry about stains anymore.
If you would like to try it, let me know.
