Looking for recommendation on humidifiers

As 'tis the season for colds, cough, congestion in my household I'm looking to buy a new humidifier. The one we have is on it's last leg, and it's gotten rather "gunky". Does anyone have any suggestions on a low maintenance humidifier as my hubby and I aren't the best at cleaning the parts? We change the water and rinse it out daily, but don't always do the best job with deep cleaning it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I have used cool mist and warm mist, higher priced and lower priced. To be quite honest, the one that I found to work the best was the "Vicks" brand warm mist humidifier that I bought at Wal-Mart for about $10. Not only was it easy to clean, but it put out more mist than any of the others I bought. The cool mist ones just do not put out the mist like the warm mist ones. The very best humidifier is to sit on the edge of the bathtub with the shower curtain around you (as you hold the child if using for a child) and turn the tub on with water warm enough to fog the mirrors. When either of my kids are really congested this is what I do first, then run the humidifier. It creates lots of steam to loosen everything up.

Hope this was helpful.

Since our baby is still under three we use a cool mist (in case he knocks it over, plus I heard it's better for prohibiting the growth of dust mites.) We went through about three before finding the right one. We have the Dog humidifier from Target. I'd look at the name of the brand but my son is sleeping right now. (msg me later and I'll get it for you) It doesn't have a filter and we just put some vinegar in there every month or so to get the water deposits off. SOOOO easy and it POURS out mist, in about 2 seconds, if you need it to.
