hi shannon,
i see that you are from philadelphia. have you heard of brightside? my kids go there and they are great with the kids. she can learn a lot there and be around kids her age.

Hi Shannon, I used to live in the northeast and after checking several preschool daycares, I enrolled my daughter in
Dumpling Grounds Daycare Center
4508 Blakiston st
Philadelphia, Pa 19136

My daughter attended from age 15 months until 4 1/2. I took her out right before my 2nd daughter was born and I decided to ba a stay at home Mom. They have color groups(yellow, red , blue groups) They are awesome with the kids. My daughter is far more advanced from being there. They have daily schedules, you should check it out. I dont know if they have an open space but if you call, you could find out.
Take care and wherever you send your child, stop in and visit periodically, it is hard to find a place anymore. With dumpling grounds, I felt that my daughter was totally safe and in good hands

My son goes to a Montessori school and we love it. I love the fact that he learns by doing. He learns by teaching the other kids too. He is learning about community and helping one another. He is learning respect for others and their property. I love the whole Montessori philosophy. My son helps to maintain the classroom, each day he has a job to do. He has to clean up after himself and at the end of the day the children all help to feed the animals and clean up the room. He is in first grade now but he has been doing these things since he started school when he was 4 years old. I was always afraid that my son would lose his love of learning when he started school (like most kids do eventually) but he loves the "work" he does in school. And his school is like a big family. Whether you pick a Montessori preschool or another you should be very careful in your choice. I have seen good schools and bad. I recommend visiting often and getting recommendations from people you trust. Good luck.
