Looking for affordable daycare ASAP for my 1 year old son in Midlothian area

Hello all - I am looking for an afforadable daycare or in-home childcare for my 1 year old son in the Posen, Midlothian, Oak Forest, etc. (5-10 mile radius) area. The father does not help financially and I am uneligible to receive government assistance. My sister has been watching my son on days that she doesn't work but now her hours are picking up. I have been driving my son to Indiana for his father to watch him but he finally found a job...

I did call Step by Step daycare in Midlothian and they are charging $200/wk, $40/day and a $60 registration fee. Sounds a little expensive but I have no clue what the average rate is for daycare. And I'm a little hesitant to put him in daycare only because I'm afraid he won't get enough attention.

Like I said, it is only me and even though the father found a job, I'm not counting on him to help me like he is supposed to. Any trusted recommendations are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

My son is at Acorn Day care and we love it. Babies room was $200 a week. That is not bad price. The day care by my work was almost $300.00 a week. I also priced a daycare (in home one) by my house and they were $225 a week.

I have never felt as thought he does not get enough attention. He has little buddy's there ( he has been going since he was 5 months old).
When you get to the 3 year olds, they have a curriculum just like any preschool. They are socialized and I feel my son is so advanced because of the daycare. The teachers are nice.

My cousin uses an in home day care and I think she pay about $165 a week. Not sure if that was the infant price or not.

What we like is we get a sheet every day of what he has eaten, naps, diaper changes, and what his favorite activity was for the day. And his demeanor (usually happy). They have video cameras set up for the rooms for your protection and theirs. We liked the way the infant room was set up. It was sectiond off in 3 ways. One for sleep, one for pre-toddlers, and one for tummy time/ equipment (swing etc.).

We have never regretted putting our son there. Good luck with finding the right daycare for you and your child.
