Lawn services

any recs. for lawn services in the area? Chem-lawn- Tru-green scotts etc....?
Thanks for the info.!

My hubby prefers to do it himself. It is not that expensive, he knows our yard better than the services and we get the treatments we want with the brands we want.

We had a lawn service ($145 per month on a 12 month contract) but got rid of them because our yard kept getting fungus and then on other areas they would cut it too short and it would die out faster. The fungus is spread from the service mowers and feet from yard to yard.

This past year our yard was the best it has been since we built in 2000 because hubby took over.

Good luck

We're in Allen and used JAMA Landscaping as did almost everyone on our street. They do a great job and charged us $32 a week to cut, weed, and edge our yard. We liked them a lot, but I'm going to be a SAHM when my child is born, so we are cutting out the landscaping and doing it ourselves.

Are you looking for fertilization only or are you wanting the company to mow as well? My husband owns Soils Alive, an organic fertilization company. Much better for the environment than the chemicals used by the companies you mentioned. Plus in the long term, organics end up providing better results than chemicals. www.soilsalive.com if you're interested. They don't mow, though.

You do have to be careful with service companies that mow in terms of disease. As the prior post mentioned, if a lawn they serviced with the mower had a fungal disease they can transfer it to your lawn. Some people buy their own mower and have the service company use theirs to ensure no diseases are spread.

Also, how you water has a huge impact on how your lawn looks. There's a watering guide on the website. If you click on Organic Resources at the top and then on Organic Advice there's a watering guide. Just throwing that out there. Hope that helps!
