Laundry Soap for sensitive skin? Please Help!

Hi moms,

I have had terrible eczema my whole life and my daughter suffers from it too. We see dermatologists and have made adjustments to our diets and only use fragrance free soaps and lotions. I keep Aquaphor in business. I haven't been able to find a laundry detergent I am really happy with. I have used dreft and the Target knock-off of dreft. I have tried just about all the usual brands that have come out with detergents claiming to be "free and clear", like tide, all, purex...ect. These really inflame my skin. I was thinking of trying out the seventh generation free and clear, but am skeptical. Please give your suggestions. I can't really afford to spend $15 a bottle for a small bottle that does 20 loads. Is there any good ones out there that won't break the bank? The aquaphor and other soap free things we have to buy are already costing me a fortune! Also, nothing that is "naturally" scented with things like lavender will work either, we are allergic to any fragrance. Thanks!

Hi Anne,
My son had AWFUL eczema, to the point that he just had open wounds all over his body. I switched my laundry detergent to Shaklee L-Free (free of scents) and and the eczema cleared up so fast. I have had other people who have had the same results.

The powder is $18 and I ordered a box (5.5lbs) in January and I do about 5 loads of laundry a week and I still have that box. It lasts and lasts because you only use 1/8 of a cup.

The liquid (they just started making a L-Free Liquid) and that is 32oz and I believe that they say that the liquid is good for 64 loads. Both products are very concentrated.

It works great and very cost-friendly and so gentle on your skin. I won't use anything else on my son's skin. Where are you on the south side? I am in Beverly....could I send you a sample to try?

My son has bad eczema until I switched detergent. I have tried Tide free and he broke out from it too. He is fine with All Free and Clear and 7th Generation Free and Clear. I used to use an organic laundry soap before I switched to the free and clear kinds and he broke out all the time. I do an extra rinse on just his clothes too. I also use Cetaphil soap and lotion for him. I hope that helps!

All Free & clear works well for us
