Hello Mamas,
We're planning a weekend stay at a water park and are leaning towards going to Key Lime Cove. A few questions for anyone who has been there. 1) Would you recommend it, and/or go back yourself? 2) Our kids are 20 months and 4 years. Is the 20month old too little? I"m sure our 4 year old will have a blast. 3) In checking rates, the rates on Key Lime's website are about 25% higher than the rates through Hotels.Com or Expedia. It wasn't clear though if the hotels.com and expedia rates include waterpark access, while Key Lime's website clearly states that it does. Does anyone know if water park access is included if you book through an outside website? Many thanks in advance!!
We went back in February with our then 2 and a half year old and had a much better time than I had expected! The kiddie pool area is great and the staff does a great job of making sure that older rambunctious kids stay out, so the little ones are comfortable. My son is pretty timid and it was perfect for him. I don't know if he would have enjoyed it at 20 months, but it really depends on your kid and how daring he or she is, there were lots of younger children there as well. Key Lime Cove also supplies life jackets for the little one, which I highly recommend. We booked through the hotel, but from my understanding from the way the place works and the info in the hotel room is that it is a "resort" and the pool is included in the price of the room (you can not use it if you are not staying there), so I wouldn't worry too much about booking through an outside site. Have fun!
We've been twice, and really like it. We get some kind of discount through work and usually go during the week, like a Monday as the rates are lower then. We'll do the early check in, spend most of the day swimming then eat, swim some more, sleep, pack up, save for a change of clothes, and swim again before checking out.
There is a kiddie pool area that would be fine for the little one, and our 4 year old , although not willing to go down the big tube slides, likes everything else there. Be warned there is an'arcade' on the lowest level that will suck up quarters pretty fast, but you get tickets for playing the games that you can turn in for toys that are worth a fraction of what you spent playing the games. Good fun though and the restaurants are pretty decent. I can imagine it would get pretty crowded on a weekend or holiday, so finding a deck chair or table to claim might be difficult. I think you'll enjoy it.
