Is it advisable (or even possible) to freeze mayo/sour cream based Dill Dip?

I've already halfed the recipe and it is still too much to use before it goes bad in the fridge. I would love to freeze it, but I worry/wonder about the composition and taste after it has been thawed out. Will it get watery? Will it taste funny? Have you ever done it with sucess? How long should it keep in the freezer?

If you know, please share!!! Thank you!

If you freeze mayo or sour cream, the consistency can change when it's thawed. It would probably be watery or separate. However, you could adapt the recipe. Freeze, then thaw, add Monterey Jack cheese and bake it. Serve as a hot dip.

I don't know. If it's going to go bad anyway, why not try it? It's not like you'd really be out anything if it's not good after it's been unthawed :)

Elena B is right one time I did it and thawed it and then ended up throwing it away. It was watery and separated and looked gross. So probably not advisable.
