I have a Harman Mobility electric wheelchair lift that fits in the van that we are no longer using since my husbands death. I have never sold anything on ebay or craigs list and am nervious about it.Has anyone had any trouble from using it? But I wanted to know 1st if anyone knows of a family that was looking for one?
We are also seeking a support group for Asperger's Syndrome hopefully in the East Bay Area. Thanks Everyone for what ever help you can give me, Nana Glenda
Hi NanaGlenda,
This is an old posting, but I just noticed it- I was noticing the wisdom of one of your answers, and looking into other Q&A's from you. I've used both eBay and Craigslist. They can both be quite successful, but also have some pitfalls.
eBay will take a percentage of profits, but it will also mediate conflict. Since this is a complicated sale (auto + mechanism), I might recommend it. Be sure to specify "local pick-up only" and write a very clear and accurate description. You can research other ads to find the exact wording.
Craigslist is simply online classified ads. It can be overwhelming filtering through responses and/or setting up appointments for potentials to see the item. It's also a bit dangerous, since there have been people using it to prey on each other. Be sure to have a neighbor watch the transaction so that they can call the police if it turns into a mugging/ home invasion.
Make sure write a very clear and accurate description, and your terms for a contract. Also, be sure to either accept PayPal or Certified Cashier's check only. Report the sale to the DMV immediately and ask the new owner to present insurance on the new vehicle info so that it isn't your liability as they drive off.
Best,
Erika
