My hubby works for the Lowe’s company so I should say Lowes lol. But it depends on what you are buying. Flooring I would go with Home depot. Appliances, Lowes is cheaper but Sears is the cheapest (which I hate Sears because I use to work for them) Go to their websites and compare prices on what you need.
Can I just say that Home Depot as a general rule care about their community. When there was a tornado in our area recently, within minutes, Home depot had their employees load tarps and hammers in trucks and go down the streets putting tarps on damaged roofs. THEY paid their employees and donated the materials. They also kept their stores open overnight for the first few nights to help meet the needs. Because I know this, I will go to Home Depot, and even pay a few bucks more for the same item.
It really does depend on what you are buying. I always check both Lowes and Home Depot before I buy from either. I have found each to be less on different products. I assume this is because generally no one goes in for one thing so if you get them in on one thing you are going to make it up on the rest of the purchase.
Lowes carries more products to choose from and higher quality finishings. Home Depot is just slightly less expensive. I’ve never found Osh to be very comprehensive in anything.
Our company has chosen for us to use Home Depot for purchases, so I would assume they are trying to be cost effective and have decided Home Depot as the best of the 3 evils.
To be honest. Lowes and Home Depot are usually about the same. My brother is a contractor so he is in these stores ALL the time. He prefers Lowes in his area because of the service. Where I prefer Home Depot because of the service. I will however buy from both. If most of the items happen to be cheaper at one or the other the stores will match prices. A little inside info too. The stores are actually owned by 2 brothers.
Around here Home Depot is cheaper than Lowes. I just read an article that indicated Home Depot has reduced the prices on various items because of savings from the debit card cap.
I haven’t been to Osh. But I am a bargain shopper. Sometimes Home Depot is cheaper and sometimes Lowes is cheaper. You just have to check. Sometimes, depending on what you are buyuing, Walmart is cheaper. Example: I wanted some new loppers. I compared the same tool at all three. Lowes:$27.95 Home Depot:$22.97 Walmart $20.98 Same brand same everything. So I bought it at Home Depot and got their price match where the sold it to me for Walmart’s $20.98 price and then subtracted another 10%.
in the chicago land area home depot is cheaper than lowes. I have neer heard of Osh so no idea about that one. We also have menards which is about the same price wise as lowes
Today I went to both Lowes and Home Depot looking for a certain size/type of blade for my husbands saw. Lowes didn’t have it. Home Depot did. Price - eh the difference was probably nomial. To be honest I didn’t even notice the price. I was just glad that HD had the item I needed.
If you have some time before you go shop, sign up on all 3 stores websites to get monthly emails. Once they have your address (home address) you will get the occasional coupon in the mail. ie, last month I got a “$10 off of $100” at HD.
I have found that Lowes is more geared towards the homeowner and home depot is more geared towards a contractor if that makes sense. Home depot always seems to be crowded over here so I head over to Lowes. It is way less crowded.
never heard of Osh, but Home Depot I think is slightly cheaper than Lowes. They both price match, but carry many different items so it’s hard to cash in on that. In comparison, I think Lowes carries some nicer items, so that’s why it would cost more.
go to coliryan.com and type in the item you are looking for and search for the cheapest price. Sometimes it’s easier to do your homework before walking into the store. You may also have a non main stream store that has it cheaper and you may not have even thought to look there.
Good luck.
