I was just wondering if anyone has had a doula and what their experience was like? Labor or postpartum?
Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
When I was pregnant with my son Bax, I filled out a request on NCHomebirth.com for doula and midwife information. I received quite a few emails offering doula services and talked to many of them over the phone or in person. The one that leaped out at me was Brooke. Our initial phone conversation was lengthy and involved - we shared similar views on pregnancy and childbirth and I guess you could say we just clicked. Brooke was also our Bradley instructor so we got to know each other very well. She was very supportive during my pregnancy and was always available by phone or email. I called Brooke when I'd been in labor for a while and contractions were increasing in intensity. She came right over and was an incredible bedrock of support for us. I can't say enough good things about her and her skill. She was worth twice what we paid her. I highly recommend to every pregnant woman to find a doula they like and feel comfortable with and pay her whatever she asks.
