Great Wolf Lodge--Kansas City, KS

We've made reservations to take our sons to the Great Wolf Lodge for a couple days next week. Since we've never been, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on things to do (other than the water park itself) while we're there. Also, are there any great restaurants or stores nearby (aside from those located inside GWL.) Any other comments about the GWL would be welcome and appreciated as well! Thanks!

You will have a blast! I'm so jealous! We make an annual trip every January! Just up the street from the lodge is a Cabela's store (if your kids are into wildlife) and a mall. The mall has tons of restaurants to choose from. One in particular that your boys might enjoy it the T-rex Cafe (it is similar to the Rainforest Cafe). It is filled with mechanical dinosaurs and has some activities for the kids as well as a gift shop. The food is only average, but my kids loved the atmosphere. They also take reservations, so it's great to know that you will have a seat available when you are ready to eat! Have fun!

yep you guys will have a great time. we were there for our 1st time a couple months ago. outside the GWL up the street is the Legends mall. get online and check out all the great stores there - reg retail stores as well as outlet stores. lots of restaurants, cafes, etc, too. the GWL has special s things to do inside the hotel, too. i can't remember what is was called but you can purchase a wand and the kids can do a scavenger type hunt around the hotel. a little costly but i think werll worth it to keep them occupied. they have a buffet type restaurant but also a little snack store with coffee and ice cream cones. story time is 8 pm which we missed. we can't wait to go back!

Its a little bit of a drive, but you may want to check out Union Station...they have Science City which is great for kids, a theatre w/imax movies, and rotating displays (when we were there we went to Bodies Revealed which my son-6-really liked, and we did too).

Otherwise the park is going to wear you out!!!

There is a fun italian place a few blocks from the GWL that has great specials and family portioned items...really good food at a very reasonable price. Sorry, don't remember the name!

Have fun!
