My husband and I are looking to replace the floors in our house with wood, right now we just have the peel and stick vinyl squares on the main floor and we want to upgrade to wood. We are looking to move in the next year and figure it will help sell our house. I don't want to do anything to expensive since we don't expect to stay for long. So I have 2 questions for you. If you were looking to purchase a home 5 years old would you want laminate or bamboo? Also does anyone have experience with a good installer? we want to buy from Lumber Liquidators and want someone who is reasonably priced and will do a good job, I want it to look nice!
Hi Patricia,
I went with manufactured wood in my house. I have a dog and wanted to be able to sand if necessary. It is comparable in price to a good laminate. I have it all over my house and it's gorgeous.
I have a handyman that installed my floor. He is a carpenter and does a beautiful job. If you are interested in getting his name and number let me know.
Good luck.
Just a thought, have you checked to see what is under the squares? Years ago we removed the layers of tile and linoloeum that were on our kitchen floor. We found a great wood floor. We put down vinyl tiles until we can sand and varnish.
