My 4 year old daughter weighs about 35lbs and constantly is eating, but she hates junk food, and only wants fruits. But, she has a shoe size of 10 to 10.5! She will only sleep in fottie pajamas, but she can't fit her feet into the ones that fit her skiny body. Also about 1 week a month she wakes up crying histrically, because they hurt her so bad. Now my son who is 2 (almost 3) is doing the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks
I always noticed my kids feet would grow alot and then they would grow in to them. She might be getting charie horses in her feet and boast up the calcium during this time so the bones have the food to grow.

P.S. have her walk until pain goes away it helps.
Yeah she doesn't like junk food!!!! Fruits are high in sugars though too. Either way she sounds perfect.
The great thing about feeties is you can buy them bigger as they don't snug up against the body anyway, they have the elastic around the ankles so I think buying a bigger size to accomodate her feet is fine.
I am not sure about feet, have you spoken with her dr about them? Is she tall for her age?
I know my son who is four is in size 13 shoe! He is very tall for his age though. He weighs 43 pounds.
My daughter is 7 and weighs 43 pounds, she is 46 inches tall and barely in a size 13 shoe, hee hee she is the same height as my son!
If your kids are going through growth spurts that can cause pain. Also make sure their shoes have good supportive arches in them for their feet support.
Some kids have to go the extra mile and need the expensive shoes for that support.
My Peditrician said because of my son's size and his activity level he needs a good and well made tennis shoe.
My daughter is very petite however though she is in gym class three days a week and needs that support too.
There goes the cheap tennis shoes at Target for us! :)
If it continues take him to a Pediatric podiatrist. Never hurts to get an expert opinion.
My son will be 4 in January and he is in a size 10 so the size doesn't sound too large, maybe a tad for a girl but nothing I would think would be concerning. She could be getting the foot cramps when she gets them I would just be sure to increase water, calcium, potassium and give her some motrin. Maybe massage them like you would a let cramp.
Hi Angela,
Your children are going to great in sports! That is good that they dont like junk food(I wish mine had that problem)
I have had great results with magnets. My children are very tall(my 16yr is 602!) and they had bad growning pains. Magnets open up the circulation to the body part where they are applied and it takes away alot of the pain. Having three children go through, and are still going through the growing pains, I have tried alot of things and magnets are amazing. They are natural and they work with your body's energy.
If you are interested I can get you some products to you to try for a week or so to see if it helps.

I hope to hear from you soon,

If it's bone pain, try increasing calcium intake to keep up with bone growth. And motrin or ibuprofen for the pain. If it's muscle pain (ie - gets better if you massage it) try upping her potassium to avoid leg cramps. Since she likes fruit, bananas are a good natural source of potassium (I eat them everyday to ward off leg cramps at night).
And as bizarre as it sounds -- is her one week a month of waking at night for hurt feet at all related to your monthly "visitor"? She's too young for a monthly cycle, but she is still female and does have female hormones which can do all kinds of things to you physically. I'm not sure about this, since you say your son is doing the same thing, but try to think back about when it happens.
Good luck to you!
I babysit a boy who is 4 years old, and his feet are an 11! I think some kids have bigger feet. As far as the feetie jammies, maybe you could cut the toes off, or get her the next size up.
It's great that she loves to eat healthy stuff! Try getting her some fuzzy pjs and have her sleep in some socks or slippers. They make some really cute, soft and fuzzy socks anymore....maybe that will help. Plus, since she's 4, try getting her some princess pjs or nightgowns to help her transition out of the footie pjs. If she doesn't like princesses, try whatever she happens to like....there are all sorts out there! That way, if she has a fun new style, plus the socks or slippers, she'll still have the comfort she likes! Good luck!
I had the exact situation--I cut the toes out of the jammies and sewed in the toes of old socks. With how fast her feet has grown I had plenty laying around. I'm not a sewer, do not own a machine (which would be easy) so mine are hand stiched and not that pretty--BUT work!
Hi Angela,
My daughter also loves the footie pjs but her feet were too long also. We cut off the tops of the footies and I sewed socks onto them. That way, she still had the non-skid bottoms but her feet still stayed warm in the socks. As for growing pains, Ibuprofen works well. Good luck!
Ouch! As far as the footie PJ's, if it is the one piece zipper part she likes, Hannah Andersson has some ($$$) with no feet, and she can pick out cute socks to wear with them. I have bought them on ebay to save money...
It's just growing pains, and man do I know they can be a pain. But take heart mama they usually ease up by the time a kid is 6. BTW her feet sound normal, my 31 pound 3 1/2 y/o wears size 11 shoes.
Have your talked to your doctor about Thyroid isues?
My children both had problems with their feet being too big. You could get someone to make her footie Pj's. I could give you names of people or sights you can go to. Can you cut the sides of the elastic? I just stay away from footies and give my kids socks. Did you try the gerber footies that are wool? These worked for a time. Also, google footed pj's and go with a company that makes them. Call them directly and see if they make bigger ones, or if they can custom make.
You didn't mention, but do you have problems finding shoes? I use Pediped's. They are more pricey, but they come with inserts, so they actually last longer. I don't know if they will fit her (don't know the age they go up to) but they will definitely fit your son. Also try see kai run. These are wider and will fit. Plus they are better for her feet. www.seekairun.com

This might sound silly, but when I was little my mother couldn't afford to buy pjs very often, so when our feet got too big she would just cut the foot part off. That way we could continue to wear our pjs until they got too short. You could do this and have your children wear socks to keep their feet warm. Just a thought.
Just put her in the bigger ones. They zip up, so there should be any problem with them not staying on. Or if you are any good at sewing, you could make some yourself, and then they would be more special
If anything is growing pains related I second or third the calcium experience. My 2 oldest used to complain of leg pain going up the stairs periodically. I gave them the calcium chews periodically as I noticed their appetites increase for a growth spurt and I rarely had problems after that!
How awesome that she doesn't like junk food, keep it that way as long as possible. I would cut the end out of her jammies and cut off the end of a sock and sew it into the jammies so her feet fit. Either that or go shopping and tell her there is no choice, she is becoming a big girl now and pick out some fun jammies that don't have feet in them.
Good luck,
SarahMM
I never thought that could be the reason my son has always hated footsie pjs. He is 5 and wears a size 1, barely. My daught is 2 and wears an 8. But, both of them are also very tall. I would either try to wean her out of footsies or cut the feet off and attach socks. There are lots of fun pjs she could wear. My kids love the kind with botton up shirts. If you buy some with her favorite characters, she just might go for wearing something else. My son hates pjs. But when I buy him some with Star Wars, Scooby Doo, or Lightening McQueen it is almost a guarentee that he will wear them.
As far as her feet hurting cold just be growing pains. ouch! Could also be charlie horses. I get them in my toes all the time because of my really high arches. You could give her some tylenol or ibuprofen. Also vitamins with calcium and potassium might be helpful, maybe better than pain meds. Help her walk or rub the pain out.
omg.. you are totally describing my niece.
:)
i second the vitamin recs below... have you tried lands end's footie jammies? they have a slimmer fit (i get mine on the overstock page after christmas)... usually at decent discount. the "angel fleece" is really soft, my daughter & neice love them (and they have helpful phone people who can help with sizing & an exellent return policy.)
or alternatively, take your daughter out to buy some jammies... my niece was a fleece addict, but now like night gowns or the two peice flannel (top & pants)... they have such cute patterns (check the nick & nora ones at target)... perfect timing too with xmas coming sooner than i want to think about.
