My husband would like us to visit Italy for his friends wedding but it's in August and will be incredibly hot. One of our 16 month old daughters has just had her 3rd febrile seizure and I'm nervous that the high temperature could cause her to be ill again. I would really appreciate anyone with experience of such siezures to offer any advice as I just don't know what to do. Thank you.
Claire:
You need to talk to your daughter’s neurologist as well as her pediatrician.
What might have triggered someone else’s child’s seizures is NOT what sets off your daughter’s seizures.
I can tell you that at 16 months - it will be a long flight for a 18 month old. And she really won’t remember much of it.
Maybe find a trusted family member who can take care of the kids for you while you are gone?
Please talk with the neurologist and the pediatrician!!
Good luck!
Febrile seizures are normally harmless and only occur in young children during fevers. Are you concerned she will get sick and spike a fever or just because it will be hot there? Has her doctor ruled out other issues?
