My 9 month old has been battling eczema since birth. We currently use Aveeno Baby eczema cream and a prescription that is Aquaphor with a diluted steroid in it. Her skin was improving but if the temperature gets too high she is breaking out even more. Her back and arms seem to be covered in a combination of eczema and heat rash.
Do you have any remedies or suggestions of other products that have brought your child relief? She seems to want to scratch all the time.
Also, did you take your child to a dermatologist or allergist? Could you recommend a good pediatric dermatologist?
Many thanks! Erin
We LOVE the California Baby Calming Cream and Calendula Cream. My son's eczema hasn't come back since we started using it. We use their sensitive baby wash and sunscreen too. You can get it at Whole Foods.
best,
Andi
Erin, I just experienced heat rash myself last week during humid conditions @ home. My mom recommended that I use Gold Bond medicated powder, to help dry out the area. I had been using aloe gel, but the powder really helped the most.
Given the age of your daughter, check with your pediatrition whether the Gold Bond is safe (due to the medication in it), but I would think any children's corn starch based powder would help.
Also, bathing her in cool water, & taking a washcloth to her dipped in cold water might help - the heat rash is due to plugged sweat glands, so helping them open up & clear out is good.
Best of luck to you!
