Early Birthday Party?

Ok so my daughter's birthday is Aug.29 pretty much Labor Day weekend and everyone is so busy ending summer and getting ready for school it's bad timing. Anyways my daughter has been invited to over 6 birthday parties this year in kindergarten and it's a very big deal to her. She could care less about presents she wants a party. My main problem is that in August we are not in any contact with her classmates at that time to pass out invitations, and we have basically no family here in MN so last year she didn't get a party. Would it be weird to have a party in June and pass out inviatations at school right before school ends? I don't know how to handle this. I've tried to save most of the invitations we've been invited to so I can call those kids otherwise I have no idea how to contact anyone come August. Any ideas or suggestions? What do the rest of you do with summer birthdays? This is something that is very important to my daughter and I want to something special for her. They are letting her bring treats to school and celebrating her summer birthday in May for all of the kids that miss out during the school year the teacher plans a summer birthday's for each child in May. She just talks non stop about how she gets to bring treats. Like I said it's more important than cake and gifts. Also any fun idea for princess, girlie girl party? We're kinda bored with Pump it Up, Chuckie Cheese and Bowling.

What if you had a party that was just a getting ready for summer party, or good bye to my friends til next school year? I am not sure where you could do this, but for my daughters birthday, we are going to do a princess part with stuff from a party store, crowns beads etc...(boys can be princes) You could have people take some of the stuff home if you wanted. Food could be a tea party with little sandwiches, plastic tea cups. And you could do something smaller for her birthday-a couple friends when the day comes. We have no family here either, so I know that can tough.
Good luck!

We have a similar problem as do a few of the
kids in our child's classes. Our child's birthday
is the week preceding Memorial Day. So what we do
is have Her birthday preceding that weekend as we
expect many or most of the parents might be away then.
However the good news for you is in our experience with
kids that have Birthdays during the Summer some have had
the birtday parties when they are and don't bother that
it is during or not during school time.

Typically invitations are mailed out to the children
and parents. One party for a boy was a "pirate" party
with a jump huge boat in the backyard. These parents
had several children themselves so were experienced
with their kids parties. They wrote something like:

Now that School is out, Summer is upon us

Let's get together this Summer and have some fun!

Enjoy my Birthday Party with me!

I doubt they had their full class attending
but did have about 10 classmates there which
was more than enough to have a "semblance"
of a party. In our eyes it was a Success!
The parents took a risk having the party then but
don't we all always take the same risks whether or
not a partly is overlapping with the first day of
school the last day or during a break. Most of the
kids will be at home and you could even call them in
advance to make sure that weekend is good for most of
them before scheduling it, we did the same when we
started having our child's birthday party in late May.
Of course there are "many" Kids Birthdays in May also.

Try to book a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream party during
Memorial Day weekend about 9 months in advance...
When the streets will be closed off due to Parades
and Parents are taking their kids to their Summer
houses, many for the first time of the year.

If we could "only" figure out away
to get that parade to come to our
and your house! :-) Our next party is at
the Way Cool Cooking School but if all the kids
come it will be way pricey, this time. We told
our soon to be 7 year old that the Party would be
Our Present to her (besides a little Surprise gift)
We are happy to do this as my spouse has a long meeting
and trip in a foreign land most of that month so they will
supply the clean up, the cake, and entertainment. Others
have done pool parties but how to do that for kids just
starting to learn to swim beats me. And of course the
Kids gyms seem to be a hit now, except our child did get
Strep Throat or the Flu we found out shortly after one of
those "parties" even though they are meticulous about
wiping down every surface they can...

Hi Beth,
I had the same problem when my son started school. His Birthday is in late June and I was not sure how I was going to get his friends to come to his party once the were out for the summer.

luckily At my son's first school each year they put out a school directory with the Grade, name, address, phone number and even e-mail address of each child/family that attend the school with the parent's consent that is). If you child's school does this get one, find your child class and ask her who she would like to invite and contact them that way.

If your child's school does not have a directory (Like my son's second school) then You could call or send a note to you child's teacher and request the class list which usually have each child's name and contact information.

I Can't help with suggestion for party ideas, my DD is turning 4 soon and I'm in need of ideas myself.
Good Luck
