Dreft Detergent

When did you stop washing your childs clothes in Dreft?

I never did use Dreft. I just used the free & clear stuff from one of many different brands that have it now. That way, I could wash the baby clothes in with all of the other clothes. I hated the thought of having to do another load of just baby clothes. Plus, Dreft is expensive!

I washed my daughters clothes in it until she was almost 17 months old (when I had my son). Then I figured out that I held them in my clothes and laid with them in my blankets more often then not so I just started washing all the clothes together when my son was born. I am now preg and have already washed her clothes with our regular detergent. However since you have been washing with dreft try putting one or two outfits in with regular detergent and see how he reacts. He may develope a rash at first.

Good luck

I stopped using Dreft around 5 months and switched to Tide Free. It is a 'sensitive skin' formula, and comes in a white bottle with a green cap. We've had no problems with it and it isn't a ripoff like Dreft. I will probably start using regular Tide when my boy turns 1.

I did it for the first couple of months, then switched to tye free. I think I stopped using dye free detergent when my daughter was about 7 months or so.

I think I switched to a "Free and Clear" detergent at around 12 months with my first one. I tried it out first with one of her sheets and when she didn't break out, I switched. I never used it at all with my second child.

Sara, Hi my name is Bonnie and i am a mom of 2 but have 5 kids that iam raising i believe we should do all we can to make everything healthier including the enviroment by making better choices in the products we buy. I belong to a wholesale club that saves me money and i get better products that are safe and non-toxic i love everything they sell. if you would like more information please contact me.

Hi Sara! Congrats on your 10 month old! My son is 11 months. About your dreft question, I never used it. I just wanted to tell you that I wash my son's clothes with arm and hammer for sensative skin. I'm pretty sure that dreft is made for the sensative skin of a baby, so when you decide to switch from dreft, anything that is for sensative skin might work. Just my suggestion! ;) Take care!

After about a year and a half I stoped Dreft but changed to Baby All for about another six months to a year.

I stopped when my little girl was a year old.

I stopped using it when my daughter was a little over a year. I just started throwing a few of her things in our wash to see if it had any effect on her skin. I have kind of sensitive skin myself, so I use Purex powder and downy softener. She didn't have a reaction so I just started washing all of her clothes/bedding with the purex too.

Sara - Congrats on your little one. I have a 3 yr old son and a 10 month old daughter. I used dreft up till about 3-4 months with both kids)and then started throwing some of their clothes is w/ mine. I usually use tide w/ downy and when I saw that they weren't effected by it.. i stopped using dreft completely. It's all trial and error. I hope things work out the best for you.

Hi Sara...
I am a mom of a 7 month old baby girl...I have never washed Olivia's clothes in Dreft...I was actually told that many babies have an allergy to it...I use the All free & clear (no scent or dye) and have since she was born (and even beofe that with my & my husband's laundry)...Olivia has pretty fair and sensitive skin and she has never had a rash...We do still wash her clothing separately from ours...We don't use fabric softener, but i have been told that the Downy free & clear is great.

Hello,
With my first child I think I used it until she was almost a year. With my second child I only used one bottle of it and then just used our normal detergent. (I think you do things differently with your second child)
He was fine with it and didn't have any rashes from our normal detergent.:)

I stopped around 6 months. Hope this helps!!

I stopped using Dreft at 10 or 11 months. I switched to purex free. It is free of all dyes and perfumes and is clear. If you are looking for something cheaper they also sell All for babies (I think it is All) it is just like dreft only cheaper.

We never used Deft. Our pediatrician told us that any Free and Clear detergent would work and that is what we have always used. Considering my son is allergic to everything this has luckily worked out for us.

I never used Dreft, except for the pretreating spray. I have a high efficiency washer that requires an HE detergent. There is no such thing in Dreft. You don't have to use that unless your baby has some sort of skin condition, and even then you can just use the FREE version of any other hihg-quality detergent like Tide. I have always used regular scented HE detergent.
