Do you get the ccd teacher anything at the end of the year?
My SIL and I were having this question just yesterday, as it was our last day. I bought ours a gift card to Starbucks. Last year I did ice cream gift cards, but I completely forgot, and Walgreens (the closest place to our church) didn’t have ice cream gift cards.
I think it’s really nice if you can do a little something for them, as they are volunteers. I just wrote a little note in a thank you card and included the gift card.
ETA - Veruca, CCD stands for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. Catholics often say CCD instead of Religious Education. In our diocese they call it PSR (Parish School of Religion), but in many diocese it’s now called Religious Ed (or RE).
I do…if I know the teacher fairly well I’ll pick out something more personal but for most, a gift card to Dunkin’ Donuts or something enclosed in a card that my child signs works.
I have taught for 7 years and getting gifts isn’t the norm but it is very much appreciated. Most of the gifts I’ve received have been DD cards (which I use even though I don’t drink coffee) but I have also received homemade treats, chocolates, flowers, an Avon gift set, and Yankee candles.
Not that any parent wants to hear this, but the biggest gift that parents can give their religious ed teachers is taking their children to church, followed by on-time drop off and pick up and a sincere hello and thank you every now and again. Seeing my students at Mass is way more rewarding than any gift I could get
what is a ccd teacher?
A CCD teacher is a religious ed teacher in the catholic church for those children who don’t attend a catholic school they can still have the religion classes to prepare them for the sacraments. a card saying thanks and a gift card is very appropriate.
Maybe this is a regional thing but I taught CCD in SW Virginia for almost 10 years and never got anything more than a hug. I taught both 3rd graders and 7th graders.
My son just received his First Communion and his last class is Wednesday. It never occurred to me to do anything else for his teacher.

My mom used to send them a thank you note and a jar of her homemade salsa. Back in the day this was a big a deal, because even down here you could not really purchase a jar of salsa it in the store and rarely at a Mexican restaurant.
Every yr I buy the teacher an angel necklace. Our ccd teachers volunteer------ and these teachers teach the most important subject !!
