Divorce/Attorney/custody advice for a friend in Sonoma County

I have a friend who has now been battling her low life Ex for over a year and can't get anywhere. She works her butt off to take care of her family making barely enough to get by. She has a daughter that is 8 and suffers from seizures and a boy who is 5. Very sweet children however when they visit their dad they come home scared/with nightmares, the girl 99% of the time comes home having seizures because her dad did not give her her meds. and the boy is always scared. She was left high and dry just over a year ago, he left took EVERYTHING except her cloths and the children's things, she had to find a new home and rely on her friends to help her with furniture and other necessities. She only makes $300 over her rent and is trying to go to school in the evening to better her carrier however that does not help her now, she cannot afford a layer so she is at the mercy of anything her Ex does, it is not fair, she is a wonderful person and does not deserve this but does not know were to turn. Do any of you in Sonoma County have advice on how she can precede, things that have worked for you, people she could talk to, ANYTHING. P.S.-she has been keeping a journal of everything he does or does not do. Thank you!

Tina,

I am so sorry to hear about your friend! LegalAid is an excellent resource in Sonoma County. Have her call the Superior Court and ask for free legal aid/advice. They can direct her to who she should speak to.
