I'm in charge of the song list for the upcoming ct-moms Baby Dance Party in Stamford (next Sat 6/12 at Hula Hanks) - kinda like a Baby Loves Disco but on a smaller scale... I've got about 35 minutes worth of songs, mostly Michael Jackson, a couple of Disco and a Madonna but can't put in Beyonce or other popular hit list songs since I'm trying to make sure all of the lyrics are 100% clean and don't sound too sexy (this party is primarily for 1-7 year olds). Besides the YMCA, can what songs do you and your kids jam to that I can include??
TIA!
Medh
Hi Medha,
These songs aren't popular, but my husband and I found a disco version of the Sound of Music soundtrack and my 2.5 yr old son loves it. (I used to sing him Sound of Music songs as lullabies when he was a baby.) If you want to use these songs, send me a response and I can download a few and email them to you.
Do the CT-Moms do thse Baby Dance Parties often? I'd love to attend, but we're busy next weekend and can't make the June 12 event.
Best of luck to you!
PS. My son also really likes
Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder
Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves
You could try songs from movies that your kids like. My kids love the music from Madagascar, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Ponyo. I'm pretty sure all the lyrics are clean since they are in kids movies.
Hi Medha! :) Brendan loves the song "Life is a Highway" (from CARS) and some hit songs off the radio....like "Soul Sister" by Train and even some Katie Perry songs. I wish we could come but that's Brendan's birthday!
Have fun!
Lynsey
How about nightmare wedding reception songs like the Chicken Dance, Macarena, Achy Breaky Heart, Hokey Pokey...my 2 1/2 year old son dances to ANY kind of music. We were at a Greek festival yesterday and he was getting down to traditional Greek music!
I think Susie's movie soundtrack idea is really good, too.
i dont know the name of it but when you go to the islands the most famous/popular song goes something like your heart, gimme gimme your heart, for your love.
chicken dance
hokey pokey
macarana
dont let the dogs out
lets get this party started
call a local DJ for more advice. they do parties all the time.
good luck and have fun
My daughter loves the Mama Mia soundtrack (e.g., mama mia, dancing queen).
Have fun!
Hi Medha!
Of course I'll be there at the dance party and was wondering about the song line-up. It's hard to come up with kid friendly songs. How about a Kidz Bop CD - do they edit the lyrics of pop songs? Or maybe some High School Music type songs or someone like Jordin Sparks ... I like the other suggestions of the typical weddings songs like the Chicken Dance, Electric Slide...Cha-Cha Slide is cute too. I'm sure the kids will love whatever we play as long as they get to boogie down! :)
Can't wait....
Beach boys are a bit with my kid - barbara ann, surfin' safari, etc...
Beatles!
