Best pregnancy test for early detection?

I am getting impatient. My breasts have been sore for almost a week (and they are bigger), have shooting pains in my ovarian section, bloating, tired lately. I haven't missed my period (due Thurs), but want to know (doesn't everyone?)! Does anyone know of a test that is better at predicting PRIOR to your menstrual due date? Thanks!

may sound weird, i swear by the dollar store tests! after trying to get pregnant for 4 years with my daughter then 9 months with my son it got to be pretty expensive with the drugstore tests. i've since heard from other mommies that they used the $1 tests also. *i took an early detection test with my daughter, negative... then a couple days later took the $1 one and it was positive.

I agree, the dollar store ones work the best for early detection. I work at a pediatric clinic and moms always talk about the dollar tree tests. Best of luck!

Have you taken a test yet? Sore breasts are a dead give away for me! that's how I knew I was pregnant the first time. my morning sickness didn't come for another month then it hit me like a ton of bricks! keep us informed!

Take any test! If your breasts are sore your probably prego! Don't wait any longer! Good luck!

First Response was able to get a positive result for me 7 days past ovulation, which had to have been almost RIGHT after implantation. I also used the mail order "early detection" kinds that are supposedly more sensitive, but it took several more days for them to show positive than the First Response, so I would go with that one. Remember that even a light positive is still a positive, and it may show up more lightly before your period. If it is negative, keep testing until you know for sure, as sometimes implantation can take longer.

Every time I have been pregnant (twice) my breasts were better detectors than any test :) Not saying you are for sure but I woud get a test, I dont have a special one to reccomend but I think they are not specific to missed periods. Good luck.

For my last two babies, I purchased an expensive test first and both times it came back negative, even though I knew I was pregnant (boobs sore, tired, feeling a little sick). I waited two weeks and bought a test from the local dollar store and both times they came back positive.

So I'd say just hang in there, go buy a test from the dollar store and in a week test again. I'd bet it comes back positive! lol Good luck!

I know you are anxious... but try to hang in there, if you are pregnant.. it won't make the baby come any sooner. If you had kids before.. you'll recognize the symptoms.... the longer you wait to test.. the more accurate the test will be so hang in there... and you can find tests that come in a 2-pack.. just to be sure, if you like! You test to early though ... you might be doing 5, like I did with my #4 kid..... I was just testing way to early, if I'd been patient I could have saved some money! Best wishes...

i know how badly you want to know, but try to be patient. if you get yourself worked up over the possiblity of a pregnancy your body will respond with the symptoms of being preg. even if it turns out you aren't (this has happened to me many times when it took 3 1/2yrs to have baby #1). if you are preg. congrats, what a blessing. good luck.

I worked with someone that had a bunch of negitive tests and she was pregnet. Had all the same symptoms as you. Good luck.

I've always used First Response, but even still they were negative until the day of my missed period. It is SO hard to wait until then when you think or know you are pregnant, hang in there! Also my friend and I were talking yesterday, both of us thought we were pregnant a month after having our Mirena IUD removed but it turned out it was just the shift in hormones, but we were both pregnant the next month! You didn't mention just getting off any bc method, so thought I'd mention it..

I was just reading this site yesterday. It's very informative of pregnancy tests. It even recommends dollar store tests. I actually was told this before, and I used one with this pregnancy, and it was dead on!

Go tomorrow and buy a few, after all, they're only a buck!

Kassie, I've heard the same information that you've been given, but with my 3 experiences...never "missed" a cycle and then tested, I always tested about 1 week before I was due, because of sore breasts, mood swings and no period! All tests came back positive, and they were usually the cheap ones with 2 tests. Even went on base, active duty at the time, and they told me it was negative, came running after me as I was leaving and said it took a little longer but I was pregnant. About 2 weeks along. Also on the third, had spotting and same symptoms, had a vaginal ultrasound and the Radiologist said no....preg test at home said yes and 37 weeks later I had a scheduled C-section. So...as a nurse I say go to your doctor and ask for a blood test if you really, really want to be sure now. They'll tell you the urine test won't show up, but again, all three of mine did all at 2 weeks pregnant. Only problem with that is it was a very, very long 9 months! Best of luck and hope you get what you are hoping for!

Early detection of pregnancy is a major concern with all to-be mothers. And most you must often wonder if you can you find out if you're pregnant prior to a missing period? For example, if you're a week from getting your period, but having symptoms of being pregnant, can you find out via a home pregnancy test, or should you just wait until you've actually missed a period to be accurate? Let us se what scientific data and the doctors have to say.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I do believe all of you who said that your mind can play tricks on you. Mine did a number on my body. I am not pregnant… this month, at least. Thanks again. K.
