All Around Child

I am considering putting my four-year-olds in daycare at All Around Child, near 135th and Antioch. Does anyone have any experience with this place? We toured and everything seemed very nice, but I'd like to hear from moms who have actually taken their kids there.

Interestingly enough, I called there today for my almost 4 year old! I am also a teacher (high school)and would love to have some input into this daycare as well. I think I will try to visit some time next week.

I have visited All Around Child three different times. First at their open house prior to them opening their doors. They had a get together at Deanna Rose Farm. Then I toured the facility when they first opened and then again recently with my sister when she was looking. I didn't enroll back when they opened because I felt they needed to get some experience under their belt. But a couple of years later when my sister said she was looking there I went along to see if things had improved. All I can say is that my sister and I both felt the staff was very young and inexperienced. We both attended the four year old class one day and let my niece participate as we sat back. The children all seem bored and the teachers seemed pre-occupied with their own conversations with each other. One teacher took a boy to the bathroom and left the door wide open (while the other children were only a few feet away during a reading circle time)and the teacher was very tough on him about not using the potty like the "other BIG Kids" and he should be embarassed that he's not using the potty like the others. All the meanwhile the children in the circle could hear & see all that was going on. Needless to say my sister and I left pretty quick after that. And no one even bothered to notice we were leaving or say goodbye.

Hi Beth, I toured the center,it seemed nice. I also took my son in for a free morning 2 hours to see what he thought. I was not impressed. I was told I would receive paperwork, that the teachers chart to let you know how the day went. I did not receive anything. When I asked how things went they couldn't tell me. They were also not very helpful at the desk. They sure were interested in getting money, because they called me off and on for 2 weeks.Needless to say we never went back. I definitely would advise you to try a free day. Most centers will give a few free hours,so you get an idea of the center.I took my son who is three to CremedaCreme. They are located in Leawood off of Roe.If we lived in this area again he would go back. He loved it! They change classrooms and curriculum every 30 minutes. They have classes like spanish, computer, dance art and music to name a few. Expensive, but definitely worth the money.Classes are monitored in each room. You can view classes when you walk in the secured building. Police on staff during busy hours. Very nice place! check it out before settling on All Around Child. Steph
