AdvoCare

Hello, It's the first of the year and everyone is thinking about loosing weight. Has anyone tried the AdvoCare products. I've seen some good reviews about the Spark energy drink and even about the shake mixes. I'm also wondering about the supplements, I think they have one that is supposed to boost energy and metabolism, has anyone tried any of these products?

Thanks,

Michelle

I know a couple who sell Advocare, and I’ll be straight with you…I think it’s overpriced and gimmicky. It’s far too costly for me to even consider using.

I have tried the Spark. I got a sample from them. But again, it’s too pricey to use for the long-term. I’ll stick with water and vitamins.

ETA: I do want to say that my cousin Lacy lost 118lbs in 11 months with Omninutrition. She looks absolutely incredible. She went from a size 20 to a size 2. Seriously. Here’s her page: www.Omnitrition.com/lacyhale and here’s a before and after photo (hopefully you can see it…she has a ton on her FB page). https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.lippert.3/posts/804099146283502?comment_id=121082348&ref=notif&notif_t=like#!/photo.php?fbid=574186485948686&set=a.147544311946241.25376.100000720196379&type=1&theater

My friend sells them and he and his wife swear by them. My husband did do the 24 day challenge and exercise and did lost 12 lbs. My husband likes the products as well. The 24 day challenge is pretty detailed and because of my schedule with my kids, I found it difficult to follow so I didn’t do it.

I do use Spark from time to time. Some swear it gives them crazy energy. For me it went from me being tired, to not being tired, but not a crazy amount of energy. They do taste good, but the Watermelon flavor is quite sweet. I prefer fruit punch.

I used ultimate value diary app on my iPhone, which is basically weight watchers and lost 5 lbs in a month with limited exercise.

Personally, I think that with most supplements it’s more mental than anything else. But my husband needs that mental boost of taking a supplement so it works for him. I have enough trouble remembering to take my pill everyday, so to have to take 10-14 pills a day at different times of the day is a lot for me.

My neighbor uses Advocare. She says she really likes the Spark drink and she also says that she has extra energy for workouts when she uses their products. She also lost 25 lb last year- she started using their products in January and did their 24 day challenge in January and maybe 3 more cleanses through the year, on top of working out hard.

Now, I have not tried their products so I have no idea if they taste good or what. I will tell you, I have reviewed the 24 day challenge meal plans and it is really no different than 1000 other diet plans. It is very similar to Bob Harper’s weight loss book, the 17 day diet, Jillian Michael’s jump start diet, or even the Whole 30 day challenge. Basically, eat “clean”, (avoid processed foods, avoid most breads and flours, sugars, alcohol and white starches, eat lots of vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, poultry and eggs, drink a lot of water.) I know all those diets have small variations, but they are all basically focusing on upping your water intake, increasing protein and fiber, and not eating crap food. Perhaps the Advocare supplements might help, but ANYONE is going to lose weight simply by not eating junk.

As a side note, my mom has lost 30 lb since September by eating less (just watching her calories) with no exercise added in. My SIL has lost 20 lb since October by cutting out 1 junky meal a day and substituting it with something healthy, plus doing Insanity workouts. I have lost 10 lbs since January 1 by only eating whole foods (no junk) and keeping my calories around 1200 a day. I guess what I am getting at is, you don’t need to spend money on products to get results, it really all comes down to what you eat, not fancy non-proven supplements. I would bet that my neighbors weight loss was 99.9% due to what she was eating and exercise, not due to some supplement. AND as another side note, my other SIL was using a fat-burning supplement last year for several months and had so many weird, horrible side effects (that she put up with, all in the name if weight loss!) that I have sworn off any sort of weight loss pill, powder or supplement. Too many risks, I think.

I love spark! I drink it twice a day. I’m trying to quit soda and this has been a good replacement.
