8th grade graduation gift ideas

My niece is graduating from 8th grade and I wanted to get her something special. Does anyone have any good ideas? Nothing too extravagant, just something special.

Instead of a trinket...how about taking her out to the movies, dinner or to the salon to get her nails done? I am sure she would love the special attention.

I agree with Debbie 100%!

I am a fan of scrapbooks and special photos. If she doesn't have many or any scrapbooks, maybe you could make a small 6X8 or 8X8 with photos you may have from her childhood. You might include a note of how proud you are of her. Have fun with it...and how nice of you!

Oh the places you'll go by St. Suess....

My friend gets a classic, hard-backed book and gives it as gifts. They're $10 at the bookstore...

I was in a wedding when I was in 8th grade and the bride gave me pearl earrings. I'm sure they weren't crazy expensive, but they were NICE and grown-up. I still have them. I think some kind of jewelry that she could wear for years can be a great gift, sort of acknowledging that she's getting more mature.

Lucy-
I own RedRibbon and we do unique gift ideas for our clients (among other things). We have had several clients give this necklace to teens for various monumental occasions and it always goes over very well:

I would think an add a pearl necklace would be nice. Then future gifting for anyone is easy, they can add a pearl to the necklace until it is completely full. They are beautiful with one pearl or three pearls or however many she has on the necklace.

I also like the idea of a charm bracelet (I have one and I still add to it and wear it - I am 41 years old). You could purchase the bracelet and a graduation hat charm to go on it. Also, this allows for future gifting too.

Hi Lucy,
The pearl sounds great... I'd like some of my own! I like Debbie's idea too. But, depending on the child/family a good youth bible may be a great way to go. It will definitely be a challenging road ahead and what better foundation to give?

Peace be with you,
Amanda
