Traveling for the First Time with Baby

Hey there. My husband and I are taking our baby on a five hour plane trip in April (she'll be 10 months then). We've opted to buy a seat for her instead of holding her on our lap. Do any of you have other travel tips to help make this trip somewhat painless? We'll be out of town and on a wonky schedule for 10 days, any tips for that?

How to Avoid Airtravel Nightmares for Mommy and Baby

I am planning an airplane trip to germany in march with my son who will then be 12 months old. I decided to get him his own seat but I am undecided if I should carry along his car seat or use this new device called CARES (child aviation restaraint system) which is an extra harness that attaches to the seatbelt in the plane. Has anyone used CARES and can tell me if/how it works? Any other input on traveling with a 1-year-old would also be greatly appreachiated, especially on such a long stretch that involves switching time zones.
