You Think I Might Be Pregnant?

I have been taking the Depo shot for birth control since April. I was on it before, several years ago, before I had my first child. Never had any trouble, never had a single period while I was on it either time.
I THOUGHT my last shot was due Nov. 1. However, when I went to the doctor's office, they informed me it was actually due on October 24. They neglected to tell me this the last time I went, so it was really their fault.
They would not give me a shot because it was overdue. They told me I could wait for my period or have a blood pregnancy test done. I was running behind that day and chose not to have the blood test, so I couldn't get the shot.

This was going to be my last shot anyway. I was not going to get any more because my hubby and I want to try for another baby late summer/early fall 2011. I know it can take several months to get your cycle regulated after Depo.

I've been having all sorts of cramps and "heaviness" in my abdomen and felt like it was just my upcoming period...until today. Two days ago, I went to the bathroom and when I wiped, there was one small, bright red blood spot. At the time I was like "Hooray! My period is FINALLY here." I've been having some pretty serious clear/white discharge that is very similar to the discharge I had while I was pregnant the first time. After lunch today, I really thought I had started because I felt some extra wetness down there (sorry if that's TMI). But when I went to the bathroom to check, it was just more discharge.
I got thinking about that red spot a few days ago. I had the SAME thing happen when I got pregnant with my son. I didn't know it at the time, but it was implantation bleeding.

I had unprotected sex twice before I knew the shot had run out. I know it'll take at least another week before I can see anything with a urine test. I just wanted to know what ya'll think.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Pregnancy test taken this morning was negative. I was smart enough to buy a 3 pack, because I know I should probably wait and test again next week.
Thanks gals!

I got pregnant While taking Depo shots. I couldn't make my appt for my shot and rescheduled it for maybe a week or so later, and used condoms until then, but like you because the shot wasn't given on time I had to be tested. I made them take it twice because I didn't believe it was positive the first time. So yes, you could be pregnant. I would recommend going and getting a test to be certain though.

You could easily be pregnant! I got pregnant with #4 while using two forms of birth control at the same time, explain that one! Needless to say, I would begin trying the tests now. Sometimes they register right away. If you were going to shoot for another baby in 8 to 10 months anyways, what's the big deal?

Good luck!

I'm a midwife, and as I was reading your post, I was thinking "implantation bleeding" even before I got to that part of your post. So yeah, not a dx, but just a hunch, you are having #2! Congrats!

Quite possibly; however one of the things I don't like about chemical birth control (like Depo and birth control pills, etc.) is that it can mess up your body's natural hormones, and when you go off the chemicals, it throws your body for a loop and takes some time to get back to normal -- you alluded to this in your post. This *might* be something related to that, but it sounds a lot like you're having the same thing when you were first pregnant, so it's more likely to be that.
