Worms in Dirt Snack - Need Some Creative Ideas...

My daughter wants to do the "worms in dirt" treat for her birthday at school.
I know the general idea is to crush up Oreo cookies into a clear plastic cup and put gummy worms on top of the dirt...but, I am wondering if there is any way to incorporate a keepsake into the project so the kids have something fun to take home. Since she isn't having a birthday party outside of school this year, I was trying to come up with something special so she can remember it.

What can I do next?

I was also going to say a mini flower pot but maybe sending some seed packs or something home with them as their prize. The spider ring idea is cute too! YOu could do flower rings for the girls instead of a pen, that way they're a little more similar.

i remember when i did my daughters snack for her birthday in october.i did candy apples but being close to halloween i cut out bats and ghost and cats out of stock paper with writing happy birthday faith and then the kids names on them.maybe you could get fake flowers to stick in the dirt that you could write on.good luck!

I made cupcakes-chocolate- one year, pushed in a worm and light frosting with crushed oreos on top. They were really cute BUT, let the cupcake cool first! I did the worms too fast and they melted! hahaha Quick fix was another worm stuffed in just before the party.
Send it along with a pack of floral seeds.. or garden vegi seeds... with a simple cute poem to plant after enjoying the mud and dirt!
Good luck! The kids will love it.

I was going to say the cup could be the keepsake. Maybe it's pottery they can decorate or just a cup with something that everyone likes right now. (For example, my young kids would love something with Toy Story on it.) I love the flower pot ideas too, and the spider rings for boys and flower rings for girls. Love that!

The silly bands are a huge thing this year so that would be good. Wanted to suggest that you ask at school about treat rules. Some have rules that you can't bring any homemade items in. Some also have rules about chocolate etc... good luck

Hello, how about a spider ring for boys and a lady bud ring for girls. Both go with dirt and worms. Or you can buy something for them to plant with their parents (ex. plants, veggies, etc.). Good luck!

Not sure how old your daughter is, but perhaps costume jewlery bracelets (more worms) for the girls and bandanas for the boys?

I agree about the silly bandz, those are great for boys and girls..my son loves them! :) And may I suggest putting chocolate pudding in the cup first then put the crushed oreos on top? ... Worms in a dirt cup has always been my favorite dessert since I was little, so instead of a cake that was my dessert at my baby shower LOL!!!!! My friend spelled out "it's a boy" with gummy worms on the top of a HUMONGOUS bowl filled with chocolate pudding topped with smashed oreos :)
