Wondering What Kind of Childcare to Get

I am a stay at home mom looking to go back to school. I want to go into the RN program. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old twins (all girls). I have never left my children for more than 2 hours at a time. I am just having a hard time deciding on where to place them - babysitter vs. daycare. I think my 4 year old would be fine but my twins are very afraid of me leaving them.

What can I do next?

I would say it depends on what childcare you can find & can afford. I currently have my daughter in an in-home daycare, and it is wonderful! My first choice would have been in my home, but it was more expensive. I would certainly say no to a day care center in your situation.

Hi L.

If possible why not do both? Your four year old would benefit from preschool, but I don't recommend having your children in all day five days a week daycare.

I have my 6 month old in daycare and I see as it as a great opportunity to socialize with other kids. If you know somebody personally that could babysit them, maybe that would be good. I just don't know how much I could trust somebody that I didn't know and didn't have any kind of supervision. The YMCA has opportunities for the kids to take swimming and gymastic classes while they are there, so it is an opportunity to get them involved in activities;

You might want to see if there is a daycare on campas. Then you can drop in and see them during the day!

I vote for babysitter.

Licensed in home daycare is nice because they will get all of the benefits of daycare with the "at home comforts".
